US citizens can vote in state elections matching last US residence

Post by alison »

Hello all,

I was surprised to learn from a friend that US expats can vote in state elections for the state where they last lived:

I've been doing that ever since I moved here in 2019. I also vote in local elections. I'm up to date with my registration for the next round, one in August and then the midterms, and so is hubby. We have the option to vote via post or to scan the filled-in ballot and email it, which is how we've always done it, but it's not allowed everywhere. Also, filing one's registration materials on time is critical varies by location. :D
