Naturalisation Application

Post by Jane47 »

I have been living in Oberursel for 9 years. I want to apply for German citizenship by naturalisation. Is there an application online or should I get a hard copy from Ausländerbehörde in Bad Homburg? Also, do they test your German language skills in the interview before clearing your application? Many thanks.

Perhaps start here:-

https://einbuergerung.hessen.de/
Spoiler
And consider that if you can't do that search, your German language skills might not be ready for it.
EDIT: Under the spoiler is me being a bit of dick. Sorry about that, I'm having a bad day.

You need to contact your local Ausländerbehörde:
https://www.bad-homburg.de/de/stadt/rat ... standesamt

B1 German is required: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_ ... _Languages

If you don't have a B1 or higher certificate, it's possible the Ausländerbehörde may evaluate your language level during your meeting. You can ask them. I would recommend getting a Goethe or TELC certificate.

Thank you both. I do have a B1 certificate and passed the Einbergurung test. I also have permanent residence.
