Oh Franklan, you got me worried there!
I am now unhappy because I worried without a cause!

Re: Why are you unhappy today?
Went to a mate's memorial service today.
52, leaving behind his wife and 10 year old lad
Life's too short folks, so make the most of it while you can (admittedly easier said than done)!

When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.

@Eric7, please - if you have the powers to do so - be a shoulder to lean on for the 10year old lad, and - if wanted - for the wife.

We'll do what we can of course!
Luckily there's quite an extended network of family and friends who are there for them.

I have rightly buggered my left knee in exactly the same way I buggered the right knee 37 years ago.
It will be many months before I'm back to 50% of normal.

It’s like the busses saying….all at once or none at all. I’m always grateful for the none at all!
So many busses just now! Started with husband being in hospital for 2 weeks. Soon to go to Reha for 13 weeks plus. I’ve now got eye hospital and other hospital checks necessary due to not ok normal checks. Very poorly cat…nervous of today’s vet visit. Major house repairs outstanding due to faulty new water meter installation by our Gemeinde. Cellar stinks most horrid after 6 months of ongoing insurance and repair delay. Mould now too. Kiddo seems somewhat off the rails just now! Husband will be away when all of that future stuff enfolds! I’d go and scream in the forest though wouldn’t want to disturb the lovely wildlife!

Thanks so much Fraufruit, you’re very kind.
I had to leave our cat at the vet so she can get fully tested tomorrow morning nüchtern. I can’t even think of the English word for that just now….no food or drink before examination.

Re: Why are you unhappy today?
I always think of „nüchtern“ in the context of being sober, but clearly here it means they want her to have an empty stomach. Take good care emkay. Sending positive thoughts and virtual hugs your way. You do have a very full platter.

My son is big. I mean 6 2. But also overweight. He is having a difficult time finding clothes that fit. There is nowhere near us that does stuff that fits him. Shopping online is so difficult, sizing is haphazard, XL can be XXXL. 5 XL can be just XL. Does anyone know any actual shops with people who can measure and advise? He has 50 as a shoe size. Any advice would be appreciated. Mannheim area.

Re: Why are you unhappy today?
Thanks Franklan, I already knew about this shop by googling too. So going to try it. Just hoping perhaps that some people with experience could help too. I am not joking, it is madly difficult. Has an unexpected interview next week and smart clothes mad tight. Thanks. I realise he should lose weight but not having a job is not going to help him in this.

Have you had a look at the "Große Größen" department at C&A?snowingagain wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 6:18 pm My son is big. I mean 6 2. But also overweight. C&A store in Mannheim, open 10am to 8pm: https://www.c-and-a.com/stores/de-de/ba ... 1-4-8.html
I wouldn't expect any advice there (there is a reason C&A is cheap), but at least he can try on the suits on the spot.
The models in the suit photos are 185cm, 190cm and 200cm tall: https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/herr ... iness-mode
and are wearing sizes 64 and 66 (change to the tab "Herren"): https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/serv ... senberater If he needs extra long shirt sleeves, i.e. ones that are 5cm longer than standard length sleeves: https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/sear ... 3%2584rmel
*************************************************************************
If money is not a concern, I second Hirmer, they are the best for advice for non-standard sizes.
But they are expensive.
