Heidelberg Girl Scouts

Post by HS-GS »

Our small troop of American Girl Scouts in Heidelberg is accepting new girls in grades 8+ for the 2025/2026 school year. Members must speak English at a native level, have US citizenship and/or be enrolled in an international school. We usually meet every other Tuesday in Kirchheim during the school year.

That is a rather restrictive requirement, isn't it?

When the British cubs, scouts, brownies, guides etc were doing their thing through the British Army of the Rhine etc, there were rules in place about who could join. These were to protect local organisations from being affected by local kids defecting for whatever reason.

I suppose these American Girl Scouts operate under similar rules.

Strange. Scoutism is about inclusion. I have been a scout since 1984 so I know something about it.\

On the other extreme: the scout group my child joined, was offering non-pork food to their muslim members. Great to have other faiths with us, but in a movement that specifically puts christianity as a core value...
