General tax knowledge sources + tax adviser (or financial planner) in Berlin/Brandenburg??

Post by RoboNova »

Hello,
Is there any chance anyone here could recommend some sources I could familiarize myself on various options of optimizing the tax burden? In my previous tax return submission cycles, I kept following my tax advisor’s instructions to send over specific types of bills (child care related, pension saving related, house/home-office related) which were subsequently used to lower the tax base and ultimate tax burden, but I lack some clear overview of what possible categories I can be thinking of, when trying to focus and tackle this topic intensively during 2025. My to-date advisor is not responsive and helpful when I ask for more clarity.

In a bit broader context - in 2025, our household expects a substantial one-off boost and income growth: after I got laid-off, I am still being paid on garden leave until mid-2025, will receive full 2024 bonus as well as a hefty severance pay. I was already warned all this will create a significant tax burden for additional/increased tax to be paid once I provide Tax return for 2025.

I am also therefore looking for a skilled tax advisor, consultant (English speaking would be a plus) who could help me identify all possible (and legal of course) options to lower the tax base. I know tax return will be due in 2026, but I would like to start consultations on this asap, so that I have clear guidance on steps I can actively take within 2025 itself, the year of that income growth.

Any tips, contacts, references?
Many thanks in advance.
