Sorry, I can't help on this specific topic.

Congrats for making an effort in learning German language. It is of course "possible" to live in Germany without German language, but not recommended.

Finding accommodation in major German cities is notoriously very difficult and expensive, and I hear in Munich maybe even more difficult and expensive.

Hello Igor, it is a pain in the ass to look at what it is going on in Ukraine right now... There is a war, nobody can sugar coat that.
It is also nice to notice that Germany allowed you to be on German soil as a refuggee. Good!

However, it wonders me a little bit why you believe that the "job center" has to support you in finding an apartment in Munich (The most expensive place - when it comes to to paying rent - in Germany), and why people on this forum should support you in doing that?

Your interest in "German history and culture" is noticed, but could it be possible that you're starting - with your interest in "I really want to assimilate into German society" - a little bit on the easy side?

Let's assume the German "Job Center" has a flat with a non-leaking roof in "Jerkmater upon Pee" (80km away from Munich, in the dark parts of the old Bavaria) and would allow you to stay there for free, would you say "no" (because it isn't Munich)?

Does the 'job centre' bit you refer to come from the title?

If so, he means that his rent will get paid by the state, so a prospective landlord need not worry about him not being able to pay his rent.

That's what I take from it, anyway. Mates of ours rent out rooms above their house in exactly this way, to young Ukrainians. Rent is assured.

I'm just looking for opportunities, it's really hard to find something for someone who isn't looking. I'm not counting on anyone's specific help, I just need some pointers and some light to shed on the road in the dark (so far) forest for me. People are the best keepers of information, I'm sure that sooner or later someone will come along and help me out.

But it is absolutely possible to find the same kind of housing in Munich for average money. I am now staying in my friend's apartment for only 600 euros a month. I don't think a job center really cares where the
apartment, as long as it's the same money until I learn the language and find a job in my specialty.

Refugees from Ukraine are mostly people with secondary and higher education, specialists in various fields, and they are motivated to stay to learn the language and become part of the community. I am very glad that the German state understands the importance of onboarding people with a similar mentality of different specialties, in fact, very cheaply (no need to pay for schools, kindergartens and other social benefits) and this is very reasonable and we appreciate it very much.

Thank you so much for providing us with such a clear explanation. I live further south on the Bodensee and have witnessed firsthand how Ukrainian refugees are indeed working hard to integrate in our community. Also, I’ve had the privilege to help several Ukranian children in an after school program at a local primary school. I am quite impressed with the support they receive at home despite having parents who are also having to learn German and forge new lives. I wish you much success in your endeavor.

The job center you are dealing with is bound to their area so if you find an apartment outside of it, you would have to deal with the job center in that area. If you find an apartment, the job center generally wants you to get a quote for the rent and utilities approved by them before you sign a contract. They have a form letter for this quote. Some landlords do not like job center tenants for various reasons. One of them might be that they could get more money than the job center caps at, especially in areas where apartments are hard to find. Anyway, your job center would be able to tell you what your max cold rent and utilities are in that area.

Excuse me, I may be a bit dense, but to me it's not clear from your original post, so may I ask whether you are already living in a flat in Munich at the moment and want to move elsewhere in Munich - and also what is the Jobcenter paying you?

If job center is supposed pay for it as you put in your title, then it is according to https://www.buergergeld.org/news/buerge ... 93-Tabelle it is up to 764€ cold with utilities other than heating up to 85. Double check with the job center to make sure.
