3 big things happened today:

I got my vasectomy, which I can compare to having a filling done at the dentist.

I got my B1 German result: sehr gut, 90%

I received the Kaufvertrag for the house I'm selling

Now it's time to recover with ice and a Curb your enthusiasm marathon.

Happy to see you guys found a new home.

I missed the end of the last forum, as I slowly stopped checking in, but it’s sad that it ended, yet awesome that it is still going in a similar manner.

Hope all is well with all of you.

I was lazy and waited over 4 years to switch my DE license over for a German one. I have never driven here and probably never will, but my US (KS) license is up for renewal in early June and I wanted the DE one so I can legally drive in the US in the future when I visit. KS is a state with DL reciprocity and I didn’t have to do a thing but apply. However, I never count my chickens until they 🐣. Today I got the notice in the mail to pay the 36€ fee and I will promptly receive a DE license. ✅ Happy, and relieved, and happy. :D

Oh so, so, happy 😃 , cuz I am now home from today’s colonoscopy enjoying a nice ☕️. And 😃 too cuz I can wait 5 years this time instead of just 3! 🙏 And 😆 after being informed that it’s called a „groẞe Hafenrundfahrt“ here. My quality of life has really gone up since drinking that horrid tasting goop last night and this morning.

I thought that post above was going to the „Why Are You Happy Today“ thread. Sorry! 🤣 I searched for the „Happy“ thread and was directed here and didn’t pay attention and posted in the wrong place. So now we have a thread about DLs and a colonoscopy. :D

Signed the Kaufvertrag to sell my house only 2 years after buying it and with a loss in the 6 figures. You wouldn't think I'd be happy but I am so relieved to be rid of this liability.

Wading through tremendous amounts of paperwork (was sick for a long time).
It’s scary as heck, but I’m happy I started.

Handed in my citizenship application this morning! It took 10 minutes for them to read through the application and hand over copies of all the required documents. They said the waiting period is around a year. This is in Emden, a city of 50.000 people.

I recently read that Köln are no longer taking appointments to submit applications in 2024:

We requested our Briefwahlunterlagen for Europawahl online Monday.
They arrived today despite the fact that the Wahlbenachrichtigung arrived here during the Pentecost Holidays here in Munich, Bavaria - I'm sure the people who help out have a lot to do.
I called to say Thank you stating the above - obviously, I made her day. I could literally feel her beaming over the phone. :)

Four Israeli hostages rescued today! They were taken at the music festival. One is the girl who was taken on a motorcycle.

I am off on holiday to the North soon. Not so hot. Wonderful long beach walks with no crowds, and a lovely sea to swim in. And good Madjesbrötchen. Nordsee chain does its best but down here they do not taste the same.

I am happy today because yesterday evening I was out with the fire brigade at the breathing apparatus training container in Krailling.
Got through it, no problem, and have now ticked all the boxes for wearing breathing apparatus for this year!!!

Next thing is the annual fitness test (annual because I am over 50 years old), which will be in August/September.
