should i register in Germany again?

Post by vryy »

Hello

My situation is a bit special. I lived in Germany for >10 years and was naturalised. I got a job in UK 2 years ago and moved there to work. But my family is still in Germany, and I came back to visit them frequently. I have deregistered myself before going to end the insurance and many other things. But now I realised that I went back to Germany so often, like >10 times a year. Is it wise to register in Germany again, and what are the consequences from a legal perspective?

A person who leaves Germany to live abroad is required to deregister accordingly. Only a few exceptions from the duty to deregister are stipulated in the respective Registration Acts (“Meldegesetze”). Please consult your local authority in order to discuss whether an exception applies to you.

Wouldn't you need KK again? Sounds like an unnecessary and expensive mission...
