This is a current screenshot of Flightradar24, it is interesting to see how traffic between Europe and Asia is rerouted to avoid both the air space over Ukraine and Iran...
Basically they're all flying over the southern part of the black sea...

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
Our elderly neighbors, who spend the winter months every year in Goa, wrote today to update us. They were supposed to fly back with Qatar Airlines yesterday or today and all flights are halted at least until March 6th. This means tomorrow they have to go out of their way to some bureaucratic office in India to get their tourist visa extended cuz it ends on March 3rd! They expect long waits there and at the airport for rerouting as many Europeans are now stranded. Oh well ...

They also have to avoid airspace around all military installations everywhere.Franklan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2026 2:30 pm This is a current screenshot of Flightradar24, it is interesting to see how traffic between Europe and Asia is rerouted to avoid both the air space over Ukraine and Iran...

Being stuck there is probably a better outcome than being stuck in - for example - Dubai at this moment...bethannbitt wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2026 2:50 pm Our elderly neighbors, who spend the winter months every year in Goa [..]

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
Nothing good will come of this.
Iranians are massing in the streets, chanting, 'Death to America and Israel!' There will be no regime change and without a large number of troops on the ground, there never could be.
Iran has supposedly been 'two weeks away from getting nukes for at least the last 30 years, yet they still haven't managed it.
Considering that their mortal enemy, Israel, has plenty of nukes, it's hardly surprising that Iran wants them as a deterrent against what is repeatedly being done to them.
I'm sure many other countries are looking at this and thinking they'd better get some fast, or they could be next.

Respectfully, it's beyond Wag the Dog. Trump is not only trying to escape from his already abysmal approval rating and deflect attention away from his horrifying immigration enforcement policies and the Epstein files, but he is also trying to play find the queen with his upcoming attempt to use the federal government to wreak havoc on the midterm elections.
Trump is a disaster on human rights, constitutional rights, the economy, foreign policy, and justice. I hope the people who voted for him die in poverty from the effects of his second term.

I seem to remember that only Congress can declare war.
Is this a special military operation like Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Or has Trump just done the impossible again?

Re: What do you think about Iran conflict?
The orange baby has really backed himself into a corner this time. He was fed a fantasy about Iran collapsing after the first strikes and that was never going to be the case.
Now he's faced with:
1. No realisitic path to a military victory (unless the nutter goes nuclear).
2. No off-ramp or options for de-escalation - Witkoff has been begging the Iranians for de-escalation, no dice*.
3. The prospect of the US having to abandon their Middle East bases.
4. The Middle East allies realising that the US cannot protect them.
5. The world economy tanking due to strangled oil supplies.
6. Getting hammered in the mid-terms.
The fact that he went into this without a 'Plan B' is utterly insane.
Like I said upthread.... nothing good with come of this!
* Iran have stated that they have to eliminate the US presence in the region now, because otherwise Israel and the US will come again, and again for them.
