I would love to simply stop driving when I move to Berlin, but am wondering about buying new furniture there. Presumably IKEA or equivalent will deliver it? I bought once a sleeping sofa and mattress at Höffner and it was delivered to my home free of charge. They also took my old sofa and mattress....

German television will probably air that movie this week to honour her. Also, great music from Ennio Morricone. Recently, they showed plenty of Robert Redford movies.

Re: Problems in Supermarkets in Germany
One point was that customers complained about no baskets. When baskets were introduced, turnover reduced so baskets were removed. I don’t know if it’s still like that? My local Lidl has no baskets as well. I always found that odd. I only buy there on occasion and then perhaps 4-5 items which I put ...

Yeah, today it’s raining again like yesterday and the day before yesterday. I think it rains every day for two weeks now. It’s also only 15 degrees in the afternoon. My brother lives on Mallorca. Boohoo.

Well, it’s supposed to resume end of next week. So far, it is rubbish. The best summer was 2018. I call it Spanish summer in Munich.

Mietschuldenfreiheitsbescheinigung (one word). It basically means a document stating that you have no debts towards your landlord and that you always paid your rent on time.

Re: Moving out of Germany
I handed over my old apartment last week. I didn‘t paint it. All walls are white anyway. My landlord didn‘t say a thing about it. My contract has no clause as well about painting or renovating. Often, these clauses are void. The Bundesgerichtshof decided on these contracts in recent years. She menti...

Re: Why are you happy today?
I’m happy, because today I received the keys of my new apartment in Nympfenburg-Neuhausen, Munich. I had to leave my current one in Westend due to Eigenbedarf. I lived there almost 20 years. Time for some change. After I started applying for a new apartment, I received an acceptance of the landlord ...

Re: Job situation in Germany
Indeed. That‘s many jobs. I read it will happen in a socially acceptable manner. Also, other German companies will shed many jobs like ThyssenKrupp. That‘s worrying. On the other hand, I‘m a tax payer and tired of bailing out the German car industry. Remember Abwrackprämie and the endless Kurzarbeit...
