Your head line says "Translation" and your post says "proof reading". Two very different things...

Translating a manual for a production machine from Chinese to English, performed by a Chinese who has studied English at some Chinese university, is one thing.

Proof reading that by a native speaker who is experienced in that specific production process and knows the "lingo" of the industry is a completely different thing.

I have been asked to translate the opening section of a book. I have worked for the company before and got the offer through my friend.

The section is about 40 pages, with about 255 words per page. I hope they will ask me to translate the rest of the book. The language is not technical.

I think I am going to offer them between €800 - €900.

Am I crazy?
