A friend of mine in Berlin attends Zoom meetings for knitting. The lady in charge is Gabriele Kluge. I found the website https://www.strickrausch.com/ . Of course, you may not be looking for something in German or online, but this is what I know about. If you want a German group in Berlin, I could ask my friend if she knows about any groups.

Thank you for the suggestion but I was looking for something in-person. If you/your friend know of anything like this please let me know.
Thx.

Check out https://www.meetup.com

There seem to be quite a few knitting events in and around Berlin.

Maybe you can advertise in your neighborhood or ask a few friends or acquaintances to help you put the word out about wanting to start an in-person group. Or ask at a local knitting shop in Berlin, of which there are many. I’m in such a group here in Konstanz and really enjoy improving my knitting skills along with my German, as well as getting to know the other women more intimately. A friend invited me to come and check it out about a year ago. I really enjoy it and wish you luck in your endeavor.

There's an Aktion going on this year in which my local wool shop is taking part, 'Bis März 2027 sollen 36.000 Paar handgestrickte Socken für Obdachlose gesammelt werden.' So knitting socks for the homeless. My shop is hosting a monthly knitting circle.

Go look at the knitting/wool shops and they'll probably have a poster up if they are involved in the kind of project, and if they have a meet-up.

Just checked the project website:

https://www.sockenweltrekord.com/sammelstellen/

That's where the socks are being collected together, so you stand a good chance of one of those being a place that's encouraging people to get together and knit :)

My friend in Berlin didn't have any particular group to recommend, but she said to check Facebook. She knows there are definitely knitting groups in Steglitz and Lankwitz.

I was just in Berlin in February visiting my longtime friend that I met when living in Steglitz in 1986. While there I visited the shop, Frau Wolle, and it is excellent and has super nice and helpful staff. I suggest you go there and ask them if you haven’t already and ask about this. I will be back there on my future trips 😊 to Steglitz. It’s a pretty fun shop that’s been around for 45 years. I was actually there back in 2009.

Wasn't sure if the answer should be here or the flummox thread...

Knitting cinema...
Watch a film and the lights are only a little dimmed.

Yeah, it's offered here in Konstanz too, but in my group we are all busy and don't see much benefit. I can knit at home and watch German krimis on my 48" TV from the comfort of my sofa. During our weekly meeting we swap pattern and yarn ideas, teach each other techniques and tricks, and get to know each other and our life stories during the "mindless knitting" spells. And, I learn lots of German there. All the knowledge and camaraderie aren't replaceable. I think cinemas are kinda dying and this is yet another last ditch effort to revive interest. Our group outings include visiting a yarn festival together.

Did you find group yet? Is there a specific part of Berlin where you would want the group to be? My friend asked, as she may know of something more specific if you wanted to let me know what area. You could also send a PM if you prefer not to say on the forum exactly where you are looking.
