Business, taxes, moving and a question

Post by Bayrisch_Dude »

Right,

we're flittin... moving house and I've shut down the workshop.... somewhat. I'll make this concise.

I still have a few orders to fulfil before we move. I've not yet deregistered my business with the city nor with the HWK. The removal company will arrive on 29 May to pack us out.

My concern: If I deregister my business with the city on 30 April and move on 29 May, can I claim the cost of the move on my taxes next year for the business when the final invoice for the move arrives in June and I no longer have an active business?

I do plan to open a workshop again this year, but I can't say when just now.

Looking forward to replies.

No, you could only claim the move as a business expense if you were moving for your business.

You can however get a 20% income tax credit for the labour costs contained in the movers' invoice, but you are not allowed to pay it in cash: https://expertise.tax/en/german-tax-ref ... ed_to_home
