Hi,
I am retired and have Krankenversicherung with the AOK. I recently tried to register with the Meine AOK app, without success. I called the AOK and was informed that the contract with the UK has now changed. Has anyone out there with an S1 experienced this issue? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the loony bin, JohnW.

Try a search for S1 insurance. It has been discussed but I don't know if your answer is there.

My husband has the same issue. Been insured with TK for a little over 10 years and freiwillig versichert, with all online access and TK app access. Upon retiring, receiving S1 from UK and registering it with TK, all online access and TK app access was cancelled. Back to writing letters now. No access to e-prescription, health data or anything. TK told us that they don't offer any of this because technically he is insured in the UK and TK is only the "assisting entity" in Germany for his access to health care. The contract with the UK does not include data collection and provision of online services.

I have had the exactly the same with AOK Bayern. When I was paying for my own insurance, I had access to everything. As soon as my S1 started they blocked my online portal (therefore all the documents in it were taken). I have written to them so many times and just get the same response - Not available for S1 holders. I can get into the app and I have just got my first e-prescription on my health card which I then sent to Medpex and got all my statutory prescription charges waived (in my case 15 euros). But still no Online Portal. Here is my latest email to them and still they doggedly say nope - get lost!
"As a pensioner, I am covered under an S1 certificate issued pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 883/2004 on the coordination of social security systems. This certificate establishes my entitlement to health care in Germany under the same conditions and with the same rights as persons insured directly under the German statutory health insurance system."

A belated thank you for the replies. Interesting though that under the brexit WA we should have cover the same as the locals. It is what it is now.

Anyone have better experience with another KK? It would be interesting to compare. AOK and TK so far no cigar...

Also S1 doesn't cover Pflege - has anyone managed to keep paying the Pflege portion separately?

Not totally relevant, but read something about retiring Brits getting German health insurance via UK S1 being ineligible for much of the screening stuff. That is, just a very basic, pretty shit cover from TK, or whoever. Anyone know more about this?

The relevant legislation is https://www.legislation.gov.uk/eur/2004 ... 24/adopted

"1. A person who receives a pension [...] under the legislation of [the UK] and who is not entitled to [healthcare] under the legislation of [Germany] shall nevertheless receive such [healthcare] for himself and the members of his family, insofar as he would be entitled thereto under the legislation of the [UK] in respect of his pensions, if he resided in [the UK]. The [healthcare] shall be provided at the expense of the [UK] by the institution of [Germany], as though the person concerned were entitled to a pension and [healthcare] under the legislation of [Germany]."

That says to me that you should get the same treatment as a person without a S1. I'm not aware of any changes to that as a result of the WA but Panda will know...
