Does anyone have a recommendation for a good Hausarzt near central Hamburg? Ditto dentist, but that need not be so central. We have met with some pretty weird dentists here and in the UK. Doing unnecessary stuff like replacing filling that don't need it. Many thanks.

I've been going there regularly over several years and I find them extremely professional. They also speak better than enough English.

And if you need a Kieforthopaede (implantologist?) I recommend Kleier & Schlieper which I visited more than once. Near DESY and Elbe Einkaufzentrum: https://www.kieferchirurg-hamburg.de/

Another implantologist that I've been to, and I also found extremely professional is Konter and Kanehl, by the Alster, can't be more central than this, https://www.konter-kanehl.de/. This one has an even better reputation (though I can't personally tell the other I mentioned is any less good), and they're even more expensive than most.

I take you know already that any work at the Kieforthopaede is always a big hassle and very expensive. No way around it.

I tend to check out doctors and dentists on the Jameda website - it can be really informative!

Possibly, but one awful awful dentist I had here has fab reccomnendations....

mate of mine told me when he needed 2 dental implants he got several quotations here in Hamburg, all near 5k.
Eventually he went somewhere else in the middle of nowhere (still Germany) to a random no-name guy his wife knew. This must have been few years ago. Job done for 700eur.
I would have been skeptical. My friend says overall still rather happy.

In that case, I recommend Alldent, it's a dentist chain and has branches all over Germany.
Their dentists are employees, i.e. they have no incentive to do unnecessary work, since they don't profit from it.

I found the elder Schiebler to be rather arogant but I quickly moved to his colleague Dr. Schablowsky.
Not so long ago the elder Schiebler handed the practice over to his son & Dr. Schablowsky.
The elder Schiebler remains as "Gutachter".

Both my wife & daughter have had treatment from the younger Schiebler & were happy with the results.

I'll stay with Dr. Schablowsky (the devil you know ...)
