Where to get glare reducing sunglasses in Berlin

Recently I have found that strong sunlight hurts my eyes. So I went to my Optician and she said that I had begun to develope Cataracts in my eyes and this was quiet common for codgers of my age (70).She recommended Polaroid sunglasses to reduce the glare. Ordinary sunglasses merely darken sunlight , but do not reduce the glare.
So I went to the local Apollo shop and got some advice. It seems I will have to pay over 50 euros for a decent pair. I also went online to check things and found some Polaroid glasses at riduculously low prices. I will not be going down this route as I want to "Try before I buy".Nor do I trust such cheap glasses.
Can anyone recommend thru personal usuage, a pair of glare reducing sunglasses. And where to get them.
Thanks

I have good experience with "blue attenuator" (Ger: blaudämpfer) sunglasses.
They filter out part of the blue light - thats what scatters most from water molecules in the atmosphere.
They are brown in colour. I find them to be great when driving or flying...

50€ sunglasses would be a dream for me. 5 years ago I bought a very expensive & stylish pair (think Yoko Ono type) at Apollo with the whole enchilada, including that they are tailored to my prescription. I am quite far-sighted and am unable to read a thing without prescription lens. With these I can read books at the beach, menus, signs, trailhead/sightseeing explanations, ... during sunny excursions. They were worth every cent. Sometimes "ya gotta do whatcha do". I'm

for you.

Thanks for the replies. I went to Fielmanns as they were quite local. I was impressed by them. They encouraged me to try a few Polaroid glasses. With no pressure to buy or hurry up.
They would have got into what sort of frames I wanted, but I cut them short as I am only interested in the glare reducing properties and not anything else.
I selected a pair with big lenses and then the sales assistant made some minor adjustments to ensure a good fit. Cost me 30 euros and that is money well spent. And I got a case to go with my new glasses.
They work very well.

I also suffer from "Dry Eyes" and so when my current supply of eye drops run out , I will go back to Fielmanns to get some new ones. I trust them.

I've recently developed cataracts too and experience the same issues with bright lights, especially when driving at night.
Working on fine details on a monitor is also a big problem.
My eye doctor says that operating is too risky due to me previously having had surgery for a detached retina so I'm going to the surgeon who did that operation in April to get a 2nd opinion.
I still need to spend quite a few years staring at computer monitors so this isn't ideal!

Sorry to hear about that, Eric7. Hope it turns out well in the end.
My new glasses are really good in this lovely spring sunshine. I must look really cool....

What is going on here? The number of views is insanely high. It is nearly 50,000. How can such an ordinary post attract so much attention? Especially when there are many more interesting posts to be viewed.
Am I being digitally stalked?

Where does it show "nearly 50,000"? Please send me a screenshot, or at least a description where those "nearly 50,000" are shown...
I'll look at that as soon as I find the time.

It would seem we are all being stalked, Colin.

The answer is "Search engine spiders" and "AI web scrapers". Look at those internal statistics:

- scrapers.png (13.21 KiB) Viewed 12793 times
Some accesses from the UK. I can see that. A lot of accesses from Germany. Makes sense, as this is a forum geared towards English speaking folks in Germany.
And then there are 2.6 Million accesses from the USA. These are automated web scrapers to feed AIs or to keep search engines up to date.
So, nothing special going on here, except that the access numbers are skyrocketing.
