To all you clever folks out there -
I'm thinking of buying a mini oven for cooking pizzas, frozen chips etc. From what I've seen it is 1600W and 220-240 volts. Can I plug it into a 'normal' wall plug? Please note it's not a full sized oven with 3 or 4 cooking plates.

Thanks for getting back to me. I don't yet know how to send links or images yet but I was at Mediamarkt yesterday...it's a Koenic KMO 4341 for 72,99 euros. I paged through the booklet while I was there and I noticed that it is 1600 W and 220-240 volts. I know zero about electricals. I have a microwave at home. that's plugged into a 'normal' wall plug that functions normally but it's only 700 W.

The folks at Mediamarkt would have been able to tell you!!!
In general MM sells items that are "plug and play", so my guess would be that you can plug it in - at least once!

Yes, you can see the plug in here: https://www.willhaben.at/iad/kaufen-und ... 946232458/ Your electrical circuit will probably have a 16 ampere fuse.
P = U * I
--> I = P/U = 1,500 Watt / 230 Volt = 6.52 ampere for the oven
which is less than the 16 ampere fuse, so ok.

Even if you only have a 10 ampere fuse on the circuit, it will work.

PandaMunich has already told you the fuse specifics necessary.
I understand you'll plug it in without an extension cord - that's excellent.
But to save on fuses: Your microwave oven's 700 W are the maximal output power, for the input power (aka how strong the fuse has to be) look into the device's manual.

Yes, you can just buy, plug in, cook and eat.

Personally I think you should think about, getting a better version.

I bought a microwave, grill and oven small device years ago, I find it perfect, because you can save on the space in your kitchen. You can also cook many many different things in in different ways, because its small its does not use much power. I almost never switch my main oven on/

I guess a lot depends, if you like doing cooking and cook in large quantities.

I also like that I have 2 ovens, so I can cook, 2 meals at the same time

But as said there is nothing wrong with the one you found, and if suits you, just buy it and hope you enjoy the food out of it

Thanks for all of your replies, much appreciated. Your help and advice on here and the old TT is top notch. Yes PandaMunich that's the one. So plug and play it is. I have an all singing and dancing microwave but it's no good for warming a frozen pizza or chips etc etc. They always come out soft and soggy (like me!). Have a great day.
