Blackview [Chinese mobile phone brand]

Bought a cheap Blackview smartphone on Amazon last week. My 3rd Blackview device.
At purchase, it stated it had a 2-year warranty (btw, don't all/most devices have a warranty anyway? Typically 1yr? Or 2yr? Whatever....)
In the package, there was a little label instructing me to post a review, take proof of it, send it to the manufacturer, and THEN they were going to give me the "extended" warranty.
I posted the review (though not clear why, it's not appeared yet...).
I emailed them asking for the warranty extension.
They insist on seeing the FIVE-star review before giving me the extended warranty.
Appalling.

If they don't solve this within 24hr I will return the item AND post a very negative review

Dodgy AF but not uncommon.
Tell amazon, they will be interested.

Also if it really pisses you off, then send it back to amazon under your 14-day distance-selling rights and post a 1 star review saying exactly what you said here.

Here the reply I just got from them (translated into English by Google)

Hello!

First of all, we would like to sincerely apologize for not being able to reply to your message in time over the weekend. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

We would like to sincerely explain to you the unpleasant side of the “Review Guarantee”. We have always been committed to providing you with high-quality products and services, and hope that you really like and recognize our products. Originally, this was done out of confidence in the quality of our own products, but during the implementation process, such misunderstandings and errors occurred, and we feel deeply guilty.

Now there is good news for you. We have successfully registered a 2-year extended warranty service for you. In this way, your product will enjoy a total of 4 years of warranty service from the date of purchase. You can enjoy full warranty rights without restrictions on reviews, which is our practical guarantee for your rights and interests.

We fully understand your disappointment and dissatisfaction with this incident. Since we learned about the situation, we have been working hard to deal with it. Your support and trust are extremely important to us. We sincerely hope that in the subsequent use process, you can discover the benefits of our products and really like our products.

If you have any questions or other needs during the use of the product, please feel free to contact us. We will mobilize all resources to answer and solve your questions and ensure that you can continue to use our products satisfactorily.

Thank you again for your understanding and support, and thank you for your tolerance and patience.

Sincerely

I actually reported a company to Amazon, as they were offering €10 for posting a good review.
Amazon just wrote back to me saying that I should be aware that some emails are spam.......... it didn´t make sense, but demonstrated to me that Amazon wasn´t interested in preventing such practices.

I have reported multiple times with wrong information and they really didn't care. I guess why would they care? nowadays probably 90% of the items pictures in their website are bad photoshops, even from recognized brands. It makes me wonder how they don't have the time and money to take real pictures.

What can/should one do, other than an appropriate review?

Returning the item would damage the vendor and have probably no impact on the manufacturer. Plus, I wonder if they discard the item into a landfill (cheaper than restocking it and selling it to a lower price? lower price because it's now been used, though only 1 week...). I am sensitive to the enviroment, so the option of returning it is not most appealing...

If it works and it is your 3rd one, keep it. How long did the others last?

It is overall the 3rd Blackview device I bought (I'm including also the Tablet for my daugther), as smartphone it is/was meant to replace my previous Blackview that is about to die.
I only ever buy cheap smartphone, rarely get longer than 2-3 yr lifetime before the battery no longer recharges properly.

Interesting those of you who have reported such things and gotten no useful feedback. I haven't reported anything like this to Amazon since about 2017 but when I did, I got a short email saying "Thankyou for your report, we will investigate" and then the item listing was removed within 3 days of me reporting it.
Sad if they are not so interested these days, but it doesn't surprise me.

I see a correlation.

I currently own the first phone that I bought new. It is pushing 4 years old and going strong. Before, I always bought used phones and got a good 5 years out of them.
