Hello
We want to make a Berliner Testament. I know the basics and the language is not a problem; I'm a native German. I lived for nearly 30 years in the UK. We got married in the UK. I have dual citizenship, my Husband is British. My husband has 2 daughters from his first marriage.
We have bought property in Germany, with no mortgage. We have a joint account. When we both are dead everything we own should be shared equally between the kids. Both live in the UK. How will they find out about the death? How will they then find out about the testament and what to do about the house sale and how to access our account?
I could not find any answers online.
We would be grateful for any help-

I am not an expert, but don't you have an executor of the will? That person should have a list of the people to be notified when you and your husband die. Then the people who inherit your estate can hire a lawyer to deal with the details. You could also send a copy of the will to each of the people who are to inherit something, so they know. Also, I presume you and/or your husband are in touch with the children, so they would automatically know when something has happened to you or your husband.

Again, I'm not an expert, but this doesn't sound like it should be complicated.
