I'm enjoying it; a huge achievement of imagination and coordination.

It's gobsmacking. I liked the statues coming up from the columns.
The performers doing their stuff through torrential rain is impressive.
Although I do wish that camera man would wipe his lens.

That Eifel (can't resist) tower is a handy thing to have about the place, when you want to put on a decent light show isn't it? Spectacular.
A surprising amount of non-French people had starring roles like carrying the flame though....is France lacking celebrities or was it deliberately internationalist? I was wondering whether Nadal possibly had a French mum, but when he ended up standing next to Serena Williams I went off the idea (fortunately, just before he sat next to Carl Lewis on the boat). Unsurprisingly then, I enjoyed ARD man saying on air, "who is the girl?" before clearly reading out loud from wikipedia about Marie-Jose Perec.

Much laughter all the way through on that score. Many tiny countries got that treatment, and so the facts chosen to read out about said tiny countries were mostly not really suitable for the jolly occasion. So funny.
Like you, I found the light show brilliant, but also that amazing horse on the river.
It was very long, which led to most of my family wandering off or falling asleep before the best bits...

As exciting and wonderful as it all is, there was the Last Supper that wasn't and the trans boxer that wasn't.

I find this really special.
I knew already some women have XY chromosomes (Caster Semenya). Only sympathy to them, as to any other woman. But I'm still puzzled by it.
I have my own opinions, and they're not al all mild. But hate is never the good thing.
