Was this a phone scam?

So last night I topped up my balance on my dumb phone. 20 quid as it is a UK phone. Should last 2-3 months. Shortly after I got a text from my bank saying they have blocked my card in case it was not me. A few seconds later, I got another text from my bank. It gave me 2 options. If it was not me who made the transaction, I was to call a phone number. If it was me who made the transaction, all I had to do was press the Y button on my keyboard.
I became suspicious. My bank had never done this before. And the phone number they gave me was not the same as on the back of my card. Not was this number anywhere on the banks website.
So I disregarded the 2 texts, thinking it could well be an AI scam.
This morning, I got a phone call allegedly from my bank asking me to contact them. It was an automated message and my name was not pronounced correctly. So I ignored this as well.
I am off to the supermarket soon and will use the card in question. This will show if my card has been blocked. If so , then I will contact them to unblock the card, but it is better to be safe then sorry.

No, I don't think this was a scam. Sounds OK to me.

Just call the number on the back of your card and find out. Simplz.

Unless the OP, has a cheap call method to the UK, it will probably cost 10 quid, to phone the bank and sort it out, thus making the cheap method quite expensive.

Guess I assumed everyone has some kind of VOIP by now for such calls. We've had it for many years. I quit Skype when we got it and I really can't remember how long ago that was.

yes, I would assume that for most users as well here

I like Collin, a nice down to earth person, but think maybe Technogym is not really his thing, no offense, so was just thinking aloud that maybe he does not have VOIP. Hope he does.

Any updates? Was your card blocked?

So here is an update. My bank called me again and this time I followed their instructions. It turned out that they were the real thing. They did not ask me for any confidential infomation. Even when they wanted my year of birth, they gave me 3 key options and I had only to press the correct key and it was amost done.
So I was too cautious but do not expect me to apologise. These scammers are getting really convincing and the use of AI simple helps them.
Bank account not blocked.

"Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that allows users to make phone calls over the internet instead of using a traditional phone line. VoIP converts voice signals into digital packets that travel through the internet, and can be used by any phone connected to the internet, whether landline or mobile."
