Pound to euro exchange rate : Best rate now in the last year it seems.

I just got a wise.com notification that the current pound to euro exchange rate is 1.1827. As always, their fees are very low. Who knows how this might change +/- soon. I took the opportunity to transfer some UK savings to DE as advised by @pandamunich due to new DE tax complications from 2024 relating to interest earned from accounts outside of DE.

I also saw that bankofscotland.de now offer more than their open ended 2.5% interest on their Tagesgeld. They now offer 3.5% Festgeld for 6 months until tomorrow . When applying, there are also more options for different savings periods +/- . I rang to check some facts and was advised that more than one Festgeld account is possible for different fixed periods. I can only say that since 2011, BOS has always been easiest to deal with. Calls are answered within minutes…so far, always with instant definitive answers.

We have used the Bank of Scotland for several years for Tagesgald.

** Not to be confused with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

I think Trade Republic is still giving me 4% on the cash I have with them.

Sounds like they are following ECB with interest rates :-)

Yes that's right, they have had the best Tagesgeld rates for a long time, but they aren't fixed for any period of time. I fortunately have 4% Tagesgeld (not Festgeld) with Consors until January 2025. They gave an extra 6 months if you made a stock market order over 1000 €.

I use Finanztip to keep an eye on the best Tagesgeld offers: https://www.finanztip.de/tagesgeld/

guys, but if you have a decent assent, and are not yet old. probably only a minuscule portion of it is in cash (I count both Festgeld, and Tagesgeld) as cash. I wouldn't spend too much time looking at Tagesgeld rates

It's euro weakness and not pound strength.

Even dwarf currencies like the hapless Canucklebuck have risen against the euro in the past few days as the markets digest the possibility that the populist right-wingers win the French elections July 7 follow through on their wildly irresponsible spending plans, à la the reaction to Liz Truss a while back.
