My son is big. I mean 6 2. But also overweight. He is having a difficult time finding clothes that fit. There is nowhere near us that does stuff that fits him. Shopping online is so difficult, sizing is haphazard, XL can be XXXL. 5 XL can be just XL. Does anyone know any actual shops with people who can measure and advise? He has 50 as a shoe size. Any advice would be appreciated. Mannheim area.

Thanks Franklan, I already knew about this shop by googling too. So going to try it. Just hoping perhaps that some people with experience could help too. I am not joking, it is madly difficult. Has an unexpected interview next week and smart clothes mad tight. Thanks. I realise he should lose weight but not having a job is not going to help him in this.

Absolutely no experience, but Bonprix does larger sizes, in case you don´t know already:

Have you had a look at the "Große Größen" department at C&A?
C&A store in Mannheim, open 10am to 8pm: https://www.c-and-a.com/stores/de-de/ba ... 1-4-8.html
I wouldn't expect any advice there (there is a reason C&A is cheap), but at least he can try on the suits on the spot.

The models in the suit photos are 185cm, 190cm and 200cm tall: https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/herr ... iness-mode
and are wearing sizes 64 and 66 (change to the tab "Herren"): https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/serv ... senberater

If he needs extra long shirt sleeves, i.e. ones that are 5cm longer than standard length sleeves: https://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/shop/sear ... 3%2584rmel

If money is not a concern, I second Hirmer, they are the best for advice for non-standard sizes.
But they are expensive.

OK an update.

The chinos from Hirmer were good. The jacket was waay to big despite the measurements. Atm he does not need one, nor a suit. He will try C&A for chinos. Will get back to help other people in same situation. He does not want to finish his FachAbi or whatever it is. Wants to do an apprenticeship. But I would like him to have a FA incase he changes his mind later. He changes his mind all the bloody time. But obviously all I can do is encourage him as much as I can to do his best in whatever he chooses.

We have the problem at the opposite end of the spectrum. My wife, same as many other Japanese, is very small by Caucasian standard. She buys clothes and shoes only when she visits Japan, not often, she keeps saying her sizes cannot be found here. I still don't get it, after all she's not smaller than many children here....
Oh well, trying to understand the spouse...

Google Kurzgrößen Damen. I'm pretty small (1,52 m) and ordering clothes online in Kurzgrößen has been my solution for years.
