I read a long article somewhere about how they have rebuilt after the disaster. But Insurance companies are only covering for rebuilds of same design and also same location of the destroyed properties. Which is mad. Some people who can afford it have rebuilt higher up (especially a wine business). I cannot find the link atm, perhaps one of you know it and are quicker than I am.

Metallica played in the Olympiastadion the other day in pouring rain, thunder, and lightning! James Hetfield said: “It’s only water!”

Well, what a wet weekend!!!
At the fire brigade we attended nearly 40 calls between Friday evening and this morning, mostly pumping water out of cellars that had been flooded.
Glad to see it is brightening up outside, but we expect a few more call-outs today and tomorrow, as people come back from their holidays.......
I hope none of you have been too adversely affected by the weather!

It rained nonstop in Munich, so no gardening meetup happened.
The water ran up to the house door, making us slog through a small lake to get in, but we survived.
A colleague escaped the rain to the North Sea, and found tons of water there

I had to carry a crate of beer through the rain, trust me, I wasn't thrilled!

I'm sorry to hear about your suffering. I'm sure you were rewarded.

We have friends who were evacuated over night. Near Pfaffenhofen. They are fine, and so is there house. Others not so lucky, including the poor fireman who drowned.

Current total is now 2, and one missing.
We just fitted the black ribbons on our fire engines.
Thanks for asking, Fruity!
Yesterday "my" fire brigade had about 50 call-outs, only 5 of which I could attend, as I also had a double shift at work.
This morning started with the first call-out at 5am, a traffic accident at about 8am, and the rest of the day pumping water out of cellars.
We were all somewhat exhausted when we were finally sent home at 4pm, after having a bowl of hot soup served at the fire station - we were all hungry and cold!!!
Compared to other regions, I think we got off lightly.

While most of Munich is not flooded, the city is cut off because the Autobahns are flooded and train tracks washed out. Wow.
My colleague’s wife is stuck in Nuremberg, can’t get home. But doesn’t have to swim.

I had technicians to do some calibration jobs in the production hall today (Gilching, to the west of Munich), they wanted to be in the hall at 9:00, but they called at 9:30 that the cannot make it...
They finally turned up at 12:30...
Fact seems to be that one can get to Munich from the South and from the East...
But getting there from The West or the North... You're f*cked...
(The folks I am talking about came from the Düsseldorf region, so, North)

Here on the Bodensee, not too far from Bavaria , the water levels are very high on the Rhein and the lake. Swimming in the river and the lake is currently considered extremely dangerous. Lots of farmers’ fields are flooded near our house.

Looks like we have a storm brewing-up.
Suddenly it´s gotten really windy, the grey clouds are rushing past the window, and the temperature has dropped to really comfortable!
Looking forward to getting a good nights sleep!!!

I've been watching from the 7th floor east and west and seems to be mostly wind. Not one donner or blitz yet. The sky sure is black, though.
ETA - Oops! Spoke to soon. The Blitz show has begun and it is magnificent.
