I’m hoping that I left no stone unturned, but if I did I’m sure I can turn it over later. Feels like a gigantic step! Fingers crossed for a quick positive reply. :D
We received an email this morning saying that our NE applications have been approved and show up at the Bürgeramt on November 18th at 11 am with pass, photo, and 113€ to finalize the deal. We couldn’t have received such good news on a better day of this year! 😉

Because just over 4 weeks ago (11th October) I had my right hip joint replaced in Tabea hospital (Hamburg).

After a week there and 3 weeks in Reha St. Peter-Ording I'm able to walk around reasonably without crutches.

I was even able to attend the Mitgliederversammlung of the Bundeskommision Segelflug in Kassel on Saturday.

Going up stairs is hard work but I'm working on it.

That's great news, HEM!!!! Keep up the good work. You'll be running up and down stairs before you know it.

Wait, I can't do that and my hips are fine.

A little edit - the concert last night surpassed all of my high expectations! It was fantastic!!!

Yay, the new twitter:

"What is Bluesky, the fast-growing social platform welcoming fleeing X users?"
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Disgruntled X users are again flocking to Bluesky, a newer social media platform that grew out of the former Twitter before billionaire Elon Musk took it over in 2022. While it remains small compared to established online spaces such as X, it has emerged as an alternative for those looking for a different mood, lighter and friendlier and less influenced by Musk.

What is Bluesky?
Championed by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Bluesky was an invitation-only space until it opened to the public in February. That invite-only period gave the site time to build out moderation tools and other features. The platform resembles Musk’s X, with a “discover” feed and a chronological feed for accounts that users follow. Users can send direct messages and pin posts, as well as find “starter packs” that provide a curated list of people and custom feeds to follow.

I've signed up and it looks pretty good, a kinder, toned down form of X-shitter :)

I've been really happy since October, when I moved to an apartment in a managed apartments complex in the town centre after Robby, my daughter's dog, died in August. It's small but comfortable and I feel really, really better off here than in the one I lived in before with all that hassle with the horror neighbour above me and the terrible landlady, who couldn't care less what was going on, and other stuff etc. Of course I had to let go of a lot of stuff, but nevertheless the few pieces of furniture I was able to take and other odds and ends have fitted in here quite harmoniously. I live on the top floor, but there's a lift, so don't have to bother with stairs. There are a couple of perks that goes with living here, such as a window cleaner every three months, rubbish collected from my front door twice weekly, free visits to the swimming baths just across the road, weekly gymnastic group, coffee and cake get-together once a month etc. Shops, doctor, bus stop, pharmacies within a few steps walking distance. And there's the local duck pond just across with benches and greenery all round. So I'm so glad I made the wise decision to move to here at my advanced age, though still young enough to have organised everything myself. In a few years I don't think I could have managed it so well. And at 78 next month I still have a good chance of living here for another 10 years or even longer. We'll see.

I am being head in the sand about this thing since Brexit. I have been here for a lonoong time. But the thing they gave me was time limited (which I know is wrong, but it was new for the local government offices). I do not have the energy to pursue it atm. I will find out when I try to renew it when my passport expires in a few years.

Keep in mind that - as far as I understand the situation - it is fairly easy to do now, but nobody knows what people are elected the next year and what those new people might change... Just sayin'...
