My immediate reaction when I read about flushing is you don't want any chemicals from the fertilizers in the bud.
Sort of like the French feeding snails a very clean diet before eating them.
There are regions in Europe were eating a fish called carp is/was a christmas tradition.
Elderly folks might remember that for the three days before christmas eve one could not take a bath as the bath tub was occupied by the carp to "live" in clean water to "demud".
Probably the same principle.

Does the bathwater become muddy?

Yes, a little bit, and that fish gets "unmuddy". That is the point. It is/was animal cruelty, yes.

Until they ate them, right?
The carp probably thought they had gone to a carp spa.

Godzilla glue getting close to harvest. I will start flushing soon (feed it plain water with no added nutrients), but I‘d rather feed it too long than flush too early.
The point behind flushing is to get rid of as much nutrients and chlorophyll as possible before harvest. It is heavily debated on whether this actually does anything or not.
OMG she's beautiful.

Thanks. I only flushed for about a week before harvesting. Now I can better judge the timing, though. It's a learning process. A really fun learning process. I have a 5 week old apple betty that I topped this time, as well as another gorilla glue, which I just planted 2 days ago. Don't really need the weed, but it's too fun to stop. Plus, I have enough adults registered here to cover the yields.

Here you can see the effects of “topping” the “apple betty” plant. We have two main stems, rather than just one.
Due to my fear of overwatering them, I wound up underfeeding the past attempts. This one is looking rather hopeful.
Like I said, it’s a learning process. A fun learning process…
My baby Godzilla Glue didn’t make it. I replaced it with two Strawberry Gorilla seeds, which are just sprouting.

This has become routine for me. I know what to give/do for the plants and get pretty good yields.
On a related note, if you are vaping. You have to try the Venty from Storck and Bickel. I was using a Norddampf Relict up until today. I was kind of happy with it, and would have lived with it, if I had to, but it had definite drawbacks, and I felt like I needed more product to get the same result.
I had been thinking of buying the venty for quite a while, but couldn't really justify the price to myself. I already thought the Relict was a bit pricey at 130 Euros. When this went on sale for 4/20, Monday, I bit the bullet and bought it. It's 300 bucks right now and that's the sale price. Cheap it ain't, but worth every penny in my opinion.
Like I wrote, the Relict is pretty decent, but with the venty, it's like I'm driving a BMW for the first time.

My €10 glass pipes works just fine, thanks.
Just soak in some alcohol to clean vs. cleaning a Venty which I looked up.

I was having what I thought were lung problems, so I bought the first one. It turned out to be an unrelated inflamed esophagus, but the taste out of a vape is much, much better, so I stuck with it.
You can buy little capsules to put the weed in and insert into the venty. That makes cleaning much, much easier. The first one I bought came with the capsules. You have to buy them separately with the venty, and I don’t think I would have even known about the capsules, if it weren’t for the first one.
