I grew up in the „Gulf state region“ of the US at that dot on the map labeled New Orleans. We actually lived next to the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, an estuary of the Gulf of Mexico. This supposed name change has got our whole family and , including the folks like my dad who are now in the ground. Ain’t gonna change that name. Y’all would „probly“ laugh even louder if you heard me pronounce the name of that lake the way some folks do.
