England vs. Ghana
0:0 at half time... (In my book, a very boring game so far)
And the game finished with a 0:0

Very boring game indeed. Kudos to Ghana for holding one of the favoured teams to a nil nil draw.

Switzerland vs Canada: Just started...
Dehydration break of first half time: Still 0:0
Half time: Still 0:0 (There is a lot of energy in this game, but...)
Minute 45: 1:0 for Switzerland (I am watching on the Swiss Telly, the host went *MAD*, really)
Minute 56: 2:0 for Switzerland (The host went mad *SQUARED*, really)
Minute 75: 2:1 (The swiss host is pissed, but not surprised)
Final result: 2:1 for Switzerland, I cannot say that this is deserved, after all, Canada was doing a great game... But this is it...

Well that was fun! The other day Schweinsteiger was complaining (not incorrectly) that the England vs Ghana game was boring, but at least they held it to a 0:0 draw...whereas here it was a really dynamic game that made the Ecuador fans whoop with joy at the result...

I wondered why Germany risked injury/red card by using their best players in a "meaningless" game.
The U.S. played their second string players in their "meaningless" game agaist Türkiye and also lost.

England vs. Panama just started...
Interesting, as Panama has no chance to get away from being 4th in that group. So they'll fly home anyway, no matter how they'll perform in this game.
Half time: It is still 0:0, very strange...
Addendum: it happend in Minute 62 by Bellingham, 1:0
Minute 67: 2:0 for England (Sorry, I haved missed the 1:0 because I was on a dehydration break...)

So, Germany go out...on penalties. Can't say I'm particularly heartbroken.
That said, nor am I gloating...yet. England have yet to click, and have been struggling to break down teams who sit back and defend, so it could be closer against DRC than it should be.
I can't even claim to be surprised by Germany going out either. The TV commentators (ARD/ZDF and Magenta) have been repeatedly referring to Germany as being one of the big favourites, which flies against all evidence to the contrary over the past 10 years. Picking a core of the same players who have failed at the past 3 tournaments, and assuming a different/better outcome, was never a strong strategy. I watched on Magenta yesterday, and listening to Klopp's analysis was hearing an over-excited job applicant explain how he could revolutionise the business.
The other two games yesterday were higher quality (watched NL v. Morocco over breakfast). Japan are unlucky to be going home. Brazil are progressing along (relatively) under the radar. Decent keeper, a core of good players, one game changer and a great manager - potential winners?

The England vs. Mexico game was the most riveting during this tournament so far.

My youngest son watched the game with me, and before going to bed he provided the most accurate match report: "that was terrifying". Perfect summary. The burden of being an England fan.
Thought Norway deserved the win yesterday too. It'll be nice to watch Portugal v Spain tonight and actually enjoy watching whatever happens.
Pretty concerning that Trump seems to be able to overturn red cards for USA players (yeah, I know he does a lot worse, but still...)

"Following Belgium's final goal, which was scored by legendary striker Romelu Lukaku, the team gathered together and mocked Trump by performing the iconic dance that he has regularly performed at his rallies and speeches over the years.
The dance was caught on camera as Belgium celebrated."
Karma rules!
After it ended, the Belgian team's social media account had a message to the U.S. on Twitter: "Overturn this."
