Will summer properly resume or is he gone?
Well, it’s supposed to resume end of next week. So far, it is rubbish. The best summer was 2018. I call it Spanish summer in Munich.
(sigh) Then our South-Korean friends from Busan performed at Tollwood: Sorikyul, percussion.
Good times; unusual weather for Summer-Tollwood.

Yeah, today it’s raining again like yesterday and the day before yesterday. I think it rains every day for two weeks now. It’s also only 15 degrees in the afternoon. My brother lives on Mallorca. Boohoo.

The Deutsche Segelflugmeisterschaften der Junioren 2025 in Freudenstadt / Musbach (25.7. - 2.8.) did not have a single day of valid competition.
Flying continually rained off. Best they could do was a Frisbee competition.
When one thinks of the effort put in by the organisors and the pilots (together with their crews - often parents who have to take time off work) its most depressing.
The Süddeutsche Segelflug-Meisterschaft 2025 in Neresheim only fared marginally better.

Oops, this might be my fault. I have to get a new knee but since my poor Irish body struggles so much with the heat, I opted to push the date to October so that it'd be cooler when I'm in hospital and reha. Given what it has been like the last few weeks, I'm fully expecting it to stay a bit cooler until about halfway through September and then build up to scorching temperatures in October, just in time for my operation.

Sorry to disagree, but I thought it was my fault as I decided to get new gas for my A/C in the car, about 6 weeks a ago. Since then the weather has been cooler and rainy.

Hi Jeanie, if your poor Irish body has lived here long enough, you start to get used to a couple of ultra hot weeks in the summer. I've been here over 40 years and I actually miss feeling the heat get through to my bones. Once I have that, I feel I'm ready for the winter, but I'm not sure I'm going to get it this year. The one week we had in June, I was in Ireland, where it was a pleasant 22/23 degrees, but that was already too hot for my family.
Anyway, good luck with your knee, I hope it all goes well for you.

Well, after thunder storms last night, and a bit of an overcast but humid day, the air has finally cleared and we have a nice, relatively cool evening - lovely!!!

Yes. The storm woke me up at 5:00 with non-stop rolling thunder and lightening for 4 hours. I had a nice, cool nap this afternoon.

For us in the South of Schleswig-Holstein its rare to get snow at all in Winter; currently we are under
about 15 cm of snow & its freezing. Thoughts of the Schneekatastrophe where there was deep
snow from New Year well into March.
Woo Hoo! Snow! Second day, not enough to make more than a micro snowman in our garden, but drove past Dorfkinder being dragged on their sledges by a tractor earlier today, and what looked like a whole town out on their local sledging slope - making the most of it while it lasts!

I was in Hamburg for the weekend again. The pavements etc were mad icy (especially some DB steps, had to cling to handrail with both hands and still could not maintain foothold). I did the penguin walk thing, feet turned out a bit, walking slightly beneding forwards, which helped. I was in a hotel about max 500m from my son's accommodation in Altona, but it was daunting in parts. God, I am old. I then got out my ice/snow spike thingies for my boots, which I had packed almost a joke, and all was grand. Hamburg looked fabulous, the Elbe in particular, snowy with gloomy dark clouds. Apart from some of the traffic stuff, I love it there.
