I have been volunteering my time and expertise to help a friend of my husband's 16 year old daughter, who has autism, prepare a written/oral presentation about Harry Potter for an English exam in the Realschule. Before retiring from my career as a Speech & Language Therapist in the US this type of thing was part of my professional life. Working with this young lady again today made me feel very happy. It got the creative juices flowing and I love seeing her progress.

Today I became a German citizen, regained my EU citizenship, and was also allowed to vote in the German Federal Election after presenting the Wahlamt with my Einbürgerungsurkunde.

Welcome to the club alma.freya.
Thanks. I was also allowed to retain my British citizenship. Considering the next government may attempt to reverse the new nationality laws, I've potentially been very lucky to fall within a short window where dual citizenship is possible.

Today is a big day in our house, my youngest has been transitioning his gender (F->M) for a few years, and today the state has finally recognised his right to live as a man.
He has officially changed his name and gender markers and the application for new ID papers is on its way.
It's been a rough road for him, but I'm so glad this next step has happened for him. He is so happy about it.

Tomorrow I fly to Ljubljana via Zörich to attend the 2-day plenary meeting of the International Gliding Commission IGC.
The IGC is to gliding as the FIFA is to football.
Last year we were in Toulouse where the French fed us famously. I fear the Slovenians are planning to drink
us under the table already tomorrow evening.

Today I'm happy because I came to work with the road bicycle and plan a little trip to the hills after work.
My 1st day with this "summer" bicycle since the winter months, instead of the all-year MTB or the commuter.
I have a handful of obsessions and cycling is one of them.

I'm over the moon cuz my kid got a 2,1 on her English exam! Her parents are ecstatic. She is delighted. We put in so many hours together.

I drove today for the first time in 5 years, from neighborhood streets to highways, to the Autobahn! This went on for 2 solid hours. It all started coming back. I didn’t crash the car, and my hubby didn’t have a heart attack. The anticipation of the event was far more stressful than the event itself.

I am relieved and happy to be back in the saddle.

Well done! Last time I drove was in UK about 10 years ago, if not longer. I do have a DE licence now. I would be happyish to drive in town. I have experience of driving on right and left. But I find the motorway driving awful awful awful. I mean, like stopping distances between cars?? So many arses. I know many Brits who just get in the "slow" lane and stick it out. Landstrasse are okay except so many other drivers are arses. In town, they are nicer.

I am happy today because I got the all clear from my colonoscopy examination. I had seven polyps removed and sent for signs of cancer.Got a phone call yesterday to say that all is well and they will see my again in 3 years. How to celebrate?
Maybe I will go out womanising tonight. If I can remember how to do it. Lock up your daughters as there is life left in this old dog.

My Wednesday night choir finished our 3rd of 3 concerts tonight. I learned 5 German songs, including “Major Tom”, by heart. I worked hard, learned a lot, and feel like I accomplished something. Who could ask for more?

Tomorrow night is Monday night choir.
