I'm only ( ;) ) 53!

I really, really hope it is the right decision...
I had mine done aged 49, had to be done because I couldn't see the computer screen anymore and I work all day in front of a screen.

Was quick and painless, and replacing my expensive prescription glasses which I needed every-day for everything, with cheap glasses that I can get from the supermarket and only need for reading has made such a big difference.

Same reason for me... all day in front of the computer.

Do you manage okay with working on the screen and driving etc. without glasses?
I was under the impression I had to choose 1 scenario that would be okay without glasses (reading, screen or long distance) and that I would need glasses for the other 2 scenarios.

I don't drive, but I'm sure I would be fine driving as well, I certainly meet the requirements for the UK driving license (I just checked).
I get on fine without glasses for most of my "day to day" stuff.
I have the text on my smart-phone set to a bigger size so I can use that without glasses, and I have a little folding pair of reading glasses that I keep in my wallet for reading menu's in dark restaurants.

If I go all day in front of a screen without reading-glasses I get a bit of a headache, so I wear weak (0.5 dioptre) glasses for using the computer at work.

Cheers!

I assume you went for the standard mono-focal lenses as opposed to the fancy multi-focal lenses?

Yeah, monofocal.

It means I am fasting - and dying of it - and drinking a disgusting substance.
I normally eat 5 times every day, and I eat more than anyone. I never fasted, and I expected it to be hard. And it is hard.
It' only 16:30, last food was breakfast at 9am straight after 20km cycling and 2km swimming.
Having to fast also means that I refrain from doing things that cost energy and would make me hungry.
Basically, doing nothing, getting bored and feeling useless...
All done?
Yes all done, thanks for asking.

I was expecting fasting to be the worst, and it turned out so. I felt extremely weak from no eating.
Plus, the substance I drank turned out to be even more disgusting than anticipated.

At the hospital they asked me if I wanted them to sedate me. I was expecting them to sedate me without even asking. I was uncomfortable having to decide, because I was lacking elements. How much pain and discomfort exactly? Of course they could not tell. I opted for no sedation and it turned out the best choice. Pain and discomfort were surprisingly mild. They say it varies much from person to person, and for female is generally more challenging. Watching the video in real time was almost fun.

Dr said he found nothing bad. See you in 10yr for the next round.

Once done, I immediately drove back home (I would not have been the drive at all on the day of course, had they sedated me), had a very generous lunch, followed by an active afternoon with heavy garden work and 1hr jogging.

I went to the chemist to get a prescription. And they told me it would take 20 minutes and offered me a chair and some water.

I said I wasn't complaining, just curious. How does it take so long?
Do they have an elf in the pack crushing up stuff in a pestle and mortar?

And the pharmacist, a black man spoke up and said: if so then he was the elf.

And I totally missed the opportunity to call him a dark elf.

I got this strange message on my phone while I was trying to charge it.
" Battery Temperure too low". Strange as it is nice and warm at the moment. What should I do?

Restart it. And hope that the problem doesn't reappear.

An update to my eyes... both eyes have been operated and have healed very well apparently!

I went for roughly -2.0 in each eye so can read my phone and work on the computer without glasses.
I will still need glasses for driving and watching TV etc. but I've been wearing glasses for 40 years so that's no problem.

It's probably the wrong thread for this now as I am very happy with the result!

Unhappy today because I cut my short holiday even shorter because of bad weather. Even had to spend a fortune for a last minute train ticket. The original train ticket, for the next day, will go unused.
I couldn't bear rotting inside my tent listening raindrops falling on the roof.

The good things are A) the campsite charged me only for the single night that I stayed, not for the two that I booked, B) the tent kept me dry cozy and warm at night C) today "only" 3 trains and 12hr, I've had journeys of 7 trains and 16hr. Oh wait, did I speak too soon😬.....?

From 6 days holiday, real holiday was only 1.5 days, the rest was train and family challenges.

I returned from holiday few days ago and found over 70% of my loved tomato plants severely suffered from blight. No way to rescue them.
Soooooooooooooo sad.
To prevent the disease to spread further, today I eliminated the damaged ones. Very sad.

The few under a little roof are all still doing well. Maybe next year I should construct a little roof for all my tomatoes.......

It's also true that between commitments, family and work, and several obsessions, running cycling swimming, time and energy are already too stretched, so maybe maybe I should sacrifice the garden tomatoes.
Not happy.

I thought it was common knowledge that tomatoes need protection from water splashing on their leaves from the ground where that disease lurks...
Invest in a watering system. Don't give up on them.

If I do construct a roof for the tom next year, this would have the additional advantage that I can collect rainwater (well, still need a little of gardening plumbing engineering, but that's the fun part)

Sorry to hear you are having a bad tom year!
Most of ours are under the balcony, so have quite some protection from the elements - it´s more the slugs that are a problem.
Not sure what your living situation is, but can´t you find a place for them next year, where they are simply more sheltered?

Very nice. Yes, I think I should have something like It.
Building it myself would be more fun though. Pity It would cost more, and take time.
