Scrounging up clients among English-speakers moving or moved to DE?

Post by sos-the-rope »

I just realised I do have a serious actual question for folks here!

I have been really tired of my career for some time now, in fact I have been kicking myself for not changing while I still lived in Germany and it would have been much easier.

Anyhow, I have gone and retrained and set up a side business, doing career coaching for people changing jobs, countries, or industries, or setting up their own small businesses. As someone who has moved country at least 6 times and had about 3 different careers I have a lot of experience! I think I bring some helpful perspectives. I also speak fluent German so I can coach in English and German.

I am sure there must still be people moving to Germany to live and work, as well as German speakers moving around the EU who might benefit from some coaching sessions. I usually offer a number of sessions free to those who really have no income, or are in a crisis situation, or in a helping profession, etc. so it's not all about the money.

I would be grateful for any ideas how I can discover and contact people in these groups, and help them find me.

Least obnoxious and most helpful to the board would be to add a signature to your posts with a link to how people can contact you.
Then participate actively in the group and make sure you help out anyone posting related questions.
You must have seen others do similar in the other place and some still do things like that here.

Of course I don't know how effective that will be, but it's all I can think of at the moment.

Yep, here are two examples of footers activated by users of this forum:

I wasn't thinking about using TT directly to find clients, but it seems to me like you thought I was - and actively encouraging it? OK!

I haven't posted much because I literally just found this.

Ah sorry yeah I assumed "how I can discover and contact people in these groups" meant here, re-reading it I can see other interpretations, but I have no idea how to help with those.

Rather than actively encouraging you to scrounge up clients here, I would say "not discuouraging" it, but it seems like editor-L also thought the signature solution was OK, so go for it.
