CT Scan - written report.

Post by Yellow Snow »

Just a quick question - How long on average does it take for a radiologist written report for an Abdomen CT Scan to reach my house doctor? I had the Scan done 3 weeks ago and has still not been sent to my gp. I then went back to the radiologist practice and they said I just gotta be patient!!! In 2022 the same thing happened and my gp only got the report 5 weeks later. I'm finding it totally nerve wrecking to go see a doctor here in Germany, especially when they want to do further investigations, test, scans, xrays etc etc.

In my limited experience in DE when it is really bad news you find out super fast. But I would guess distinct/not so bad diagnoses vary a lot depending on what you are your condition is. Hope it works out for you.

After scans, I talk to the radiologists about results and look at the pictures with them. If there is some Befund, I get the report then and there and take it to my Hausarzt or whoever sent me for the scan, usually. If the scan is negative, I just tell my doctor and I'm not sure how long it takes the report to get to her.

There is also some portal on the internet where radiologists drop scans and results. You get a PIN to access them and your doctor can, too.

I had ongoing headaches and dizziness in May/June (long since gone thankfully) and needed a hastily arranged CT scan to rule out bad stuff. This took place where I live, in Konstanz. The scan took 5 minutes with the radiology tech and 10 minutes later she handed me an envelope with results to bring to my Hausarzt, while telling me that everything looked normal and I should enjoy my upcoming weekend, which I really did despite those symptoms. :D

I get the impression that this can vary widely from place to place within DE.
