Re: Today I did something stupid!
Oh brilliant! A thread I could write in every day providing there are no limits on (my) stupidity.

Who? The hoover? They don't build them as tough anymore as they used to be in the good ol' days...Robinson100 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:31 pm- still suffering from it two days laterRobinson100 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 8:10 pm Currently missing a "today I did something stupid" thread - guess who managed to fall backwards over the hoover today?!

Haha! the hoover was broken already, which is why it was stood in a different place to where it "lives" - ready to go to the workshop to be fixed.Franklan wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:38 pmWho? As for me, and thanks for your kind concern, I am getting better by the day, although my back is still quite stiff.

Inspired by her fuitiness.
I went down to throw out my paper and bio rubbish, and then straight to adjoining supermarket.
Put empty rubbish containers in basket and bought a few more things. Paid and put in backpack
Then picked up shopping basket with both empty rubbish containers and took them home.
Woke up next morning wondering why there was a supermarket basket in hallway.
A but like finding a traffic cone to cap your hangover.

Re: Today I did something stupid!
So today I put 2 bags of cashews on the band at the Kasse and asked to pay for 4. I explained what had happened. He was not happy. Told me I should shop with one of those heavy plastic baskets (that don't roll). I told him they are too heavy when I have 3 bottles of wine, 3 boxes of juice and 3 boxes of milk along with the rest of my shopping. He then suggested I use a monster shopping cart. I told him that I had been shopping there for 32 years with my personal shopping wagon and have only had one problem which I just corrected. No thank you. No nothing. I thought I should get a medal for being so honest.
There are many using their personal carts there. Today, they were stocking shelves with those huge carts in most of the aisles. The people with the big store shopping trolleys couldn't get through.
I had just bought a Döner for a homeless guy that sits around the corner there a lot.
Will I go to heaven or not?

Re: Today I did something stupid!
It is so difficult to mend an honest mistake when you are met with the attitude of your supermarket dude.
I would have thought it was uncomplicated to scan the cashews a couple of extra times, say thank you for your honesty, and crack on.
Odd. Lose/lose scenario - so pointless, so avoidable.

Re: Today I did something stupid!
I had something similar at the local Edeka. My son, young at the time, disappeared with the shopping trolley So I bunged a few things worth bugger all, in the carrier bag I had. Paid for the stuff in the trolley (quite a lot), and left forgetting the extra items. Outside I immediately realised and went back to pay for them. Lord, their reactionf! Frowns, grumbles and treated with much suspiciion for the next month or two. Not sure why I bothered tbh.
Re: Today I did something stupid!
Neither of you did anything stupid, it's a common mistake, it's happened to me before several times. What was stupid was the reaction of the checkout operator. Just goes to show that honesty isn't always the best policy. I wouldn't have told them or gone back.snowingagain wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 3:43 pm Lord, their reactionf! Re: Today I did something stupid!
I must admit that we stole something from Ikea and did not take it back. It was IKEA and we bought enough to furnish flat for us, 3 year old and baby. And baby fell asleep with a small fluffy toy. Sorry IKEA.
