Sick leave abroad

Post by SpaceOne »

Hello

In case you are regulary employed in Germay by an employer who allows remote work abroad, and you get sick or injured during the work abroad and return to Germany is not possible, how to get official Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung (sick leave certificate) for the employer?

It’s not possible to get certificate from local doctor or ER and it anyhow wouldn’t be valid for the employer. And while a video call with German Hausarzt is possible, they can (so I’ve been told) issue certificate based on the video call only for one week, not longer.
Does anyone has experience and could advice how to get certificate for longer period e.g. until you feel better or for the same duration as you would get it in Germany?

Hi there, I think you need to take this up with your employer and also take a look at your employment contract. Tere is normally provision made what needs to be supplied and by when.

Was it your employer who told you this? If so, this isn't quite correct - https://www.tk.de/firmenkunden/service/ ... 18?tkcm=ab

Check with your KK to see what they require or consider necessary when you are sick while working abroad and then your employment contract.

Do/did you actually have a GP in Germany before going to work abroad?
If so, maybe s/he could advise you(?)
