Re: Obituaries
Nice kind of guy, but of course like most made some bad decisions. I drove round the US in 1980 in a Chevrolet Impala. Delightfully unregulated USA. We had no insurance. I had a licence, but boyfriend not. No one seemed to care. Anyway I digress. We were driving around a huge roundabouty thing in Washington and there was a mad guy jogging in shorts. And some edgy guys with guns and doing the finger in ear thing. Yes, it was Jimmy out for a jog.I managed to avoid hitting him.

I could hardly believe it, but turns out Presidents really do wear shorts:

Hollywood legend Gene Hackman (95) passed away. Very sad together with his wife and dog. Two Oscars.

Re: Obituaries
AnNa R., singer of Rosenstolz, died at 55.
Es kann gar nicht hell genug sein
Alle Lichter dieser Welt
Sollen heute für mich leuchten
Ich werd raus geh'n
Mich nicht umdreh'n
Ich muss weg
Manchmal muss Liebe schnell geh'n
Mich überfahr'n, mich überroll'n
Manchmal muss das Leben wehtun
Nur wenn es weh tut
Ist es gut, dafür zu geh'n
Gib mir Sonne
Gib mir Wärme
Gib mir Licht
All die Farben wieder zurück
Nur was weh tut, is auch gut
Gib mir Sonne
Gib mir Wärme
Gib mir Licht
All die Farben wieder zurück

Val Kilmer at 65 years old.
...and I don't get overly into the lives of hollywood types, but I did enjoy the odd movie from him.

It was a precursor to Downton Abbey, a wonderful series that my family and I used to watch on Sunday evenings.Franklan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 5:22 pm Jean Marsh, English actress, dies at 90.

I just read that myself. Gonna weigh heavy on the minds of Catholics today, of all days.

Re: Obituaries
I was born & raised Catholic. Am not anymore.
But Francis was a pope I admired, liked and respected. John Paul I might have been good if he didn't die so fast. But other than JP1 Francis was apart. His policies were admirable, his goodness shone.
With Queen Elizabeth gone we only need the Dalai Lama to die to have a "decennium horrendam"
