YouTube Premium

Post by Eric7 »

Does anyone know of a reliable, (at least theoretically) legal way to get YouTube Premium at a better rate than directly from YouTube?

My Ad blocker for YouTube has suddenly stopped working and to say the ads are irritating is an understatement. Im just not sure I can justify €130 a year for a proper subscription.

MTIA!

Which ad blocker and browser are you using? Google Chrome recently changes to how extensions can interact with web content, resulting in ad blockers not being as effective.

You can read more here: https://ublockorigin.com/

Scroll down to the section Understanding Manifest V3 and the Future of uBlock Origin to understand how the changes impact ad blockers.
Alternatives and Solutions
Continue Using uBlock Origin on Firefox
Use uBlock Origin Lite
Switch to Browsers Committed to MV2 Support
Explore Other Content Blocking Methods
I recommend using Firefox and the uBlock Origin extension.

I used Firefox for years until it just seemed to perform terribly on so many websites and I switched to Chrome. I was using "AdBlock for YouTube" in Chrome and it worked perfectly for ages.
I don't really mind adverts on other websites... it's just on YouTube that it's winding me up.

I'll have to have a read up on the site you linked!

I've not tried it myself but I have heard of people using a VPN to connect to a 3rd country (i.e. Romania) and then buying YouTube Premium from that country as it's cheaper than buying it from their own country. There are some sites online regarding this (i.e. https://www.vpn-tools.com/youtube-cheaper/) however I am not 100% sure if it works or not.

This is actually quite normal...emm...these days. I use a few addons to block YouTube ads through Firefox. As expected, the YouTube IT experts figured work-rounds to interrupt the addons. But then ad blocking addon or app folk found ways to counter YouTube and the ads were blocked again.

See where this is going?

We, the user / consumer, are in the middle of a dick-measuring war between numerous IT folks. One side is YouTube and the other is the creators of ad blocking apps.

We have several choices here:

1. If using an add block that at first works, then suddenly doesn't, be patient or find another addon app.

2. Pay YouTube.

3. Pay the app creator.
