Pediatrician that respects parents?

Post by Wyrsa »

Hello, long time member of the previous site.

I've been struggling to find a Pediatrician that will behave in a manner other than expecting me to worship the ground they walk on.

As the appointments are... Legally enforced in Hesse, I am kinda losing my mind trying to find someone who is going to be human to me, my spouse, and my child.

The backup plan is of course endlessly rotating... But that's absurd.

For context...
Currently the one we have responded to my questions and concerns by demanding my occupation and then saying that won't "spiel dieser spielchen".

So anyone who knows of a Pediatrician who is reasonable in the Mainz/Wiesbaden/Frankfurt triangle area... Please let me know.

With all those bad experiences with "unrespectful" Pediatricians: You are aware that during all those visits to different Pediatricians, the common factor is you?

The check ups are pretty routine stuff? Not sure why you would be upset by them. However, of course, doctors can be abrasive. I had one who was occasionally really weird, but had saving graces of being a fantastic diagnostician and very attentive, she would call me late in the evening/weekends to check how my sick toddler was doing. The only thing I can think of would be if you were a committed fruitarian or similar, or anti vaccine. Perhaps you just phrased this wrong, and want a recommendation for a sympathetic Kinderarzt/in near you. Hope someone can suggest one.

One kind of is now obligated to ask what you are asking the doctor. So, what are you asking that is putting so many doctors off and making them feel as if they are playing a game? Are you aware that parental rights are not unlimited in Germany?

To the original poster. As no one here is able to suggest anything, perhaps you could try googling Kinderarzt/in in your area with "naturopath". I did that for Mainz and got some hits. These are real docs who do the vaccinations and check ups. But possibly more approachable and kind than others.

I shared what the midwife has told us, he almost blatantly scoffed and basically made it out like she knew nothing of value.

I asked about the routine procedures and instead of explaining things... I was asked my profession. And then promptly told to not worry about doctor stuff.

When pressed, then the remark of "spielchen" came up.

This is a simple, treat me and my wife "like adults who love their child" situation. He isn't doctor house and I'm not dying under mysterious circumstances... So I have no reason to put up with that.

... And yes, I am aware that I'm a common factor in these situations. I am not anti vaccine, I just want to be informed.

Thanks for the tip on searching.

And yes, I am aware that the appointments are mandatory under legal governmental threat. We are afterall in hesse.

There is some very very vital information missing here...

Wyrsa, fill the void or I will lock this topic, as this leads to nowhere...
