Crazy falling.
In one month my portfolio lost ca 8% (my portfolio is was aggressive, on purpose, because I'm still very far from retirement. All in all I still think I'm taking wise choices)
How you all doing?

Re: Today's investment
Amazon and Intel reported bad numbers last week, the unemployment rate in the USA is rising, and bad quarterly numbers are foreseen for other companies. The current situation in the Middle East doesn’t help, and - btw - there is a war in Europe…
Oh, and then there is Boeing.

What I'm hearing and reading about the latest in a nutshell -
"European stock markets joined a global selloff on Monday morning, but seemed set to avoid the massive tumble seen in Asia, where Japan's Nikkei index lost over 12% amid fears about a possible U.S. recession."

I assume your portfolio has now bounced back? In a few years this short ride will barely noticeable on the chart. Hopefully you didn't sell any of your positions.

Re: Today's investment
Who would sell when it's down???
Oh yes, people who bought stocks in their margins and have to sell when down. I've never done that. I'm sure Alberto hasn't, either.

Re: Today's investement
Also people who invested money they need in the short term (which you should never do), people who think they can time the market by selling during a dip and buying back at the bottom (impossible to know the future), people who are scared it's the BIG ONE and don't have the stomach to see their portfolio drop by 50%.
People buy high and sell low. When the market goes up people have confidence and buy. When it goes down they panic and sell.
Re: Today's investment
I aim to make my 1st ever sale from investment 20yr from now. I do look at the market (which I know well most gurus recommended NOT to do, and generally I think this is for most people good advice), but I look at it for fun actually, I'm a data nerd, comes from my profession.alma.freya wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 4:45 pmI assume your portfolio has now bounced back?
