Hi everyone!
I will be having a second child in Bavaria soon (yay!) and wanted to know the possibilities for the last name.
My wife and I are married. We both kept our last names. Our son who was also born while we were married, has my wife's last name.
My question: is it possible to have a hyphenated last name for both our children, i.e. chaning our son's last name, and declaring a hyphenated last name upon the birth of our second?
I can only find this resource, and I either did not understand, or did not find it difinitive: https://www.germany.info/us-en/service/ ... ild/950018
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: Child Last Name vs. German Law
You can change a child's name one time as far as I know.
I know a guy whose son got the mother's last name at birth and they changed it to a family name that is the original name of the father but was actually not his legal last name. When the 2nd son was born, they gave him the same last name as the older one. Then they thought that maybe it could be a problem when traveling so they asked if they could change both boys names to the father's legal last name but they were told that they could not change the older one's name again.
