Gas prices in Germany?

Just checked gasoline app on my phone, and it is crazy.

Cheapest E10 in radius of 5km is 2.24, E5 is 2.43.
No way to bypass those numbers, I am too far from Chechia or Austria, I am just venting out.

Here are the E10 prices of my nearest filling station.

They always increase at 12 o'clock and then go down.

Cheapest time to fill up the car is around 11:30am each day.
The worst time is the early afternoon.

There were days where the difference between "Cheapest time" and "worst time" was 25ct/L!

Try to get the possibility to create charts like that to find the cheapest time of the day for your area.

However, knowing how much energy prices impact all products we buy it makes your head spin when you see prices like this.

I do not even have a car (at the moment)!

But when I go to the supermarket for my daily/weekly consumables, I am aware the nowt on their shelves got there on a donkey cart!

Eventhough I do not directly burn Diesel, it'll hurt my wallet!

Exactly. When I complain about those prices and people tell me to "drive less if you cannot afford"... What does that mean, don't they get that everything one needs on a daily base will get more expensive (as the transportation costs - at the end of the day - will get paid by the buyer)? Soap, Shampoo, Toothpaste? Shall I wash myself less to compensate?

I have to throw in that I sort of laugh when I hear Amis complaining about $5 for a gallon of gas. But now, their diesel is so high and everything has to get to the market in some fashion. At least we have a better train system for hauling consumables.

We don't drive much but I am an auto hobbyist, so I have to set my sights on small-displacement engines from now on. I guess no AMGs for me

There's a huge difference even in seemingly similar economies.
The UK seemed a fair bit cheaper over the summer and I'm not too far from Belgium, where I paid 1.80 a litre last week (I know it's over 1.90 now), but Germany is way more (Holland too). I'm guessing it is largely down to differences in local taxation.
Fortunately, the tank of Belgian petrol will last me months, as I only use my petrol car for occasional longer trips.

Mostly I drive a little electric Corsa. I've put over 15,000km on it this year, and charged the whole lot from my roof.
I know that changing to electric isn't so easy for everyone, and in particular if you want the double-benefit from being able to drive on the electricity you produce yourself, but the prices are really coming in favour of electric cars.
It's really not that expensive now. I bought the Corsa as a Jahreswagen with only 20k on the clock, a battery certified as being over 95% (with the guarantee until some time in the 2030s) for under 14k. I think it was a good deal, but there are loads of similar deals available now for "nearly new" e-cars.
Yes, range isn't brilliant (particularly on motorways), so it wouldn't work so well for someone with daily long commutes. But with petrol prices so high, it's worth considering for many people though.

As for cars as a hobby, my days of Jaguar driving are also gone. The roads/traffic doesn't really make driving a big heavy car much fun anymore anyway. A mate of mine has recently bought an MGA Roadster which weighs nothing and only has a 1.6 engine. It's more fun (if a lot less comfortable) than a Jag or an AMG anyway.

I joined the EV revolution earlier in the year with an Xpeng G9 and now drive past the filling stations with an increasing sense of relief.
I fear the fuel prices are only heading one way...

As an aside, the G9 is great for long distances thanks to it's crazy fast charging speed. Up to 525kW if you can find a charger fast enough!
