Blocking of address retrieval

Post by AlexInGermany »

Hi all

I applied for blocking of address , meldeauskunftsperre
I dont really like the idea of my address being searched by anyone

I got reply to provide evidence of harm etc, which I replied 2 weeks ago, they send one more reply to provide evidence and extended initial 1 month block for 1 more month, which did not mention anything about my last reply , does it mean they missed my reply or it was not enough ?

Do you have any experience , how to successfully block it ?

Let's assume "John Doe / Melonenstrasse 12 / 12345 Namensdorf" didn't pay a bill and now moved away to an unknown address.

It is then possible to ask the "Einwohnermeldeamt" (Registration office") for the disclosure of the new address. And this costs a fee, I remember something between €10 and €20.

There are people who could be in danger when their address is disclosed, e.g. a very good looking actress might have strange "fans", or a state attorney who regularly brings people behind bars might have foes.

They can ask to have this possibility blocked,it is called "Auskunftssperre".

Anyway, you have to prove that the disclosure of your address is a thread to your safety and wellbeing.
If you cannot deliver fundamental proof, you will not achieve to get this blocked.

What can be done quite easily is this Übermittlungssperre, it massively reduces the free access to your data by churches or the press.

But getting a real "Auskunftssperre" without a proof of a thread will not be possible.

I find this system horrible that anyone can walk in and get address

other countries have no melderegister at all, but they are managing fine the debths

at least there should be court order saying that person really owes money to allow to search his private address
