Tipping washing machine delivery driver(s)

No, you are right, my neighbours are fine I am also a major taker-in-of-packages. Once again it is a problem re my youngest child, in the new place. It is apartments and there is a ton of new neighbours, he does not know any of them. Well he knows (kind of) 2 now. Thanked them profusely, etc.

But this new DHL thing of making one unable to divert delivery to a Filiale is weird. He has registered to have all DHL to go to a particular place. And it worked for one I sent. But not the other. They do (helpfully) say on their FAQ that this does not always work. I just do not understand their reasoning. It saves the poor guy getting out the van, finding the package, traipsing up 2 flights (as someone else has helpfully buzzed them in), futilely ringing the bell, and then reurning to van, etc. Why change it?

To make this post relevant, what if he had ordered a washing machine from Amazon?

Are there any days when he is home so that he can order deliveries on those days?

I have to admit that I don't accept packages for one neighbor any more because she doesn't come get them for 3 or 4 days and I don't like staring at other people's boxes. And, she was never grateful when I did accept them.

It depends on who delivers:

Is the item so small that it fits into an envelope and the post man can bring it (The yellow dressed guy/gal on a bicycle)?

Or is it so bulky that a driver and the DHL truck needs to come to your place?

It is my experience that - for "small" things - the delivery duty is handed over to the classic mail guy ("ten o'clock postman, bring me a letter")... And they do not give you the "alternative day, alternative address, alternative univers" option...

My situation:
I have had deliveries (packets) that I could successfully reroute to the next DHL station (125m away from my apartment), and I had deliveries (for example, a large envelope) that I could *not* reroute but had to pick it up at a "Postfiliale" in a 2km walking distance...

The question is: Is the "last mile" the DHL lorry guy or is it the "post man"/"mail man"...

This is big stuff. Big old 5 kg box. Used to be you could see it (eventually) arriving, and if you were not going to be home you had a number of options. To save the deliver time. So, options were give to neighbour, put somewhere discreet. Or divert to local DHL. The last option comes up as "not available" even a day or more before it gets near to the the actual delivery vehicle. This is what I am moaning about.
