Re: The great British Banger

I wouldn't go to your lengths to make actual sausages but I dismantle German sousages sometimes to make sausage rolls, mixing up the meat with breadcrumbs and a random onion/spice/herb mixture rolled up in flaky pastry. They get wolfed down. I do similar, adding some finely chopped dried apricots w...

If the search goes as far as Pinneberg we can recommend Drs. Schiebler & Schablowsky https://zahnarzt-schiebler.de/ I found the elder Schiebler to be rather arogant but I quickly moved to his colleague Dr. Schablowsky. Not so long ago the elder Schiebler handed the practice over to his son &...

Re: Where to get glare reducing sunglasses in Berlin

I have good experience with "blue attenuator" (Ger: blaudämpfer) sunglasses.

They filter out part of the blue light - thats what scatters most from water molecules in the atmosphere.
They are brown in colour. I find them to be great when driving or flying...

Tomorrow I fly to Ljubljana via Zörich to attend the 2-day plenary meeting of the International Gliding Commission IGC. The IGC is to gliding as the FIFA is to football. Last year we were in Toulouse where the French fed us famously. I fear the Slovenians are planning to drink us under the table alr...

Re: National Insurance Class 3 contributions and German tax

The option to make voluntary contributions to the UK system is incredibly generous, especially if you can pay at the "give-away" Class 2 rate. The UK state pension is based on qualifying National Insurance years and at Class 2 a year currently costs £179.40 to add £328.64 per year to your...
