Oh yes! It was so cold in the evening that we lit the oven and got the living room lovely and warm and cosy!
It's cold and wet here, but I'm quite enjoying it, for now!

Re: Watching older TV shows, preferably in English

I have only just found out that George Wendt is the uncle of Jason Sudeikis of Ted Lasso fame.

Funny world, in more ways that one!

Watching older TV shows, preferably in English

George Wendt , US-American actor know as bar fly from Cheers, dies at 76. I'm really sad to read this, I just listened to a podcast with George Wendt called "Where everybody knows your name" It's hosted by Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson. There's also an episode with Kelsey Grammer (Fraise...

Re: Why are you unhappy today?

[/quote] Good point. I did seed my own tomatoes a few years in the past. And I also bought some small plants from the shop. Fact is, those I planted, they all died before becoming adult. Still not sure why, my wife says I water them too much. So this year I only bought from the shop. And most died :...

1) Its estimated, that many many children, are still alive today, because they can go to school/come home in the light meaning less accidents, more of the time at least, rather than having day light savings time (DST). 2) The energy saved by people not needing to switch the lights on, during the da...

So sorry to hear you're unwell, although half the country seem to be the same.

I hope you have a speedy recovery, although my advice would be to take it easy, it can take a few weeks to get over this.

Okay, so my tomatoes did really well, and even survived being taken to the new house. Next problem is that we have an awful lot of apples (very small ones), and pears at the moment, and apart from making crumble with them, I am not sure what else I can do. Any good ideas out there? (I don´t have a ...

I would put good money on the family member being one of the loveliest people one could meet - sorry, but this sort of sh*t always seems to hit the nice ones. Not at all fair if you ask me! You're so right Rob, she's the one the rest of the family turn to when something needs to be done. Even exten...

I’m unhappy, sad, angry and frustrated. A close family member, who is already facing a hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis, also needs an operation on her hand because it has become so disformed she can hardly use it and has now been diagnosed with an illness called lipoedema, something I hadn’...

Hi Nina, You’re certainly not alone with this, there are hundreds of us in a similar situation. Back when I started teaching freelance, the advice was to avoid paying into the German pension system, to get a “Befreiung”, which many of us did, I now believe that was a mistake. My pension will just ab...

Re: Berliner Testament

I am not an expert, but don't you have an executor of the will? That person should have a list of the people to be notified when you and your husband die. Then the people who inherit your estate can hire a lawyer to deal with the details. You could also send a copy of the will to each of the people ...

I'm curious, how is the battle with the slugs going for everyone?

My tomatoes are turning red now, but it's slow this year due to the cooler temperatures and lack of sun. However, my flowers seem to be thriving in it.

I’m with you both on the free, or almost free, stuff. I grow my own tomatoes to make enough sauce until next year. I get rhubarb from a friend, and I make strawberry and rhubarb jam.
