That's exactly what I use for mushing up my jam, and it works a treat.

[/quote] Good point. I did seed my own tomatoes a few years in the past. And I also bought some small plants from the shop. Fact is, those I planted, they all died before becoming adult. Still not sure why, my wife says I water them too much. So this year I only bought from the shop. And most died :...

Perhaps try and regard is as an important immune boost for your later years.... I'd got through the Winter without any ills - we'd both been vaccinated against the "Flu". I got the flu vaccine in October and, although I usually pride myself in seldome being ill, I got a chest infection in...

1) Its estimated, that many many children, are still alive today, because they can go to school/come home in the light meaning less accidents, more of the time at least, rather than having day light savings time (DST). 2) The energy saved by people not needing to switch the lights on, during the da...

So sorry to hear you're unwell, although half the country seem to be the same.Robinson100 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 2:51 am I am down with the ´flu at the mo - hit me like a truck last Thursday, and hasn´t moved on yet.
I hope you have a speedy recovery, although my advice would be to take it easy, it can take a few weeks to get over this.

Okay, so my tomatoes did really well, and even survived being taken to the new house. Next problem is that we have an awful lot of apples (very small ones), and pears at the moment, and apart from making crumble with them, I am not sure what else I can do. Any good ideas out there? (I don´t have a ...

I would put good money on the family member being one of the loveliest people one could meet - sorry, but this sort of sh*t always seems to hit the nice ones. Not at all fair if you ask me! You're so right Rob, she's the one the rest of the family turn to when something needs to be done. Even exten...

I’m unhappy, sad, angry and frustrated. A close family member, who is already facing a hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis, also needs an operation on her hand because it has become so disformed she can hardly use it and has now been diagnosed with an illness called lipoedema, something I hadn’...

Re: I don't want to qualify for a German pension...
Hi Nina, You’re certainly not alone with this, there are hundreds of us in a similar situation. Back when I started teaching freelance, the advice was to avoid paying into the German pension system, to get a “Befreiung”, which many of us did, I now believe that was a mistake. My pension will just ab...

I am not an expert, but don't you have an executor of the will? That person should have a list of the people to be notified when you and your husband die. Then the people who inherit your estate can hire a lawyer to deal with the details. You could also send a copy of the will to each of the people ...

I just tried to place an order with them, Franklan, but when I signed in as a guest, I got a blank page. Tried again and got a blank page when I wanted to sign in as a guest. Darn! They do have a decent discount on some products that I need. I guess I'll try again later. The website is user friendl...

I'm curious, how is the battle with the slugs going for everyone?
My tomatoes are turning red now, but it's slow this year due to the cooler temperatures and lack of sun. However, my flowers seem to be thriving in it.

I’m with you both on the free, or almost free, stuff. I grow my own tomatoes to make enough sauce until next year. I get rhubarb from a friend, and I make strawberry and rhubarb jam. I gather Mirabelle and blackberries and make jam with both of them. I also freeze some of the blackberries to make ap...
