Re: Gardening

I would say that it's still a little early for tomatoes. I'll be planting mine at the end of March, beginning of April, as I usually do.

Looking forward to the new growing season :D

Re: The Weather

We had a good dump of snow here on the boarder between Hessen and Bavaria last night. Yes, it can be icy and slippery at times, and yes, I have to clear the snow off the street sometimes, but it's great, I'm really enjoying this winter!!!

Re: Problems in Supermarkets in Germany

Since we are on the topic... One thing that annoys me at the supermarket here in Germany is that it is by expected customers do not by default pay by card but rather by bargeld. Unless I specifically inform the cashier that I intend to pay by card (well, phone), the card reader is not engaged. Why?...

Will summer properly resume or is he gone? Oops, this might be my fault. I have to get a new knee but since my poor Irish body struggles so much with the heat, I opted to push the date to October so that it'd be cooler when I'm in hospital and reha. Given what it has been like the last few weeks, I...

I'm neither old (?) nor a Brit, but I remember him, especially after the Brighton bombings, poor man.

I'm in Ireland at the moment where it's a balmy 16 degrees and sunny. I'm really grateful to be missing out on that weather, although I expect it will be there again in late July and August.

Stay cool 8-)

I have only just found out that George Wendt is the uncle of Jason Sudeikis of Ted Lasso fame.

Funny world, in more ways that one!

Watching older TV shows, preferably in English

George Wendt , US-American actor know as bar fly from Cheers, dies at 76. I'm really sad to read this, I just listened to a podcast with George Wendt called "Where everybody knows your name" It's hosted by Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson. There's also an episode with Kelsey Grammer (Fraise...

[/quote] Good point. I did seed my own tomatoes a few years in the past. And I also bought some small plants from the shop. Fact is, those I planted, they all died before becoming adult. Still not sure why, my wife says I water them too much. So this year I only bought from the shop. And most died :...

So sorry to hear you're unwell, although half the country seem to be the same.

I hope you have a speedy recovery, although my advice would be to take it easy, it can take a few weeks to get over this.
