Re: Ryanair goes totally digital. No paper bording passes.

Age UK have asked Ryanair to not forget about the 4.3 million older people who do not use a smartphone and recommends that there must always be an alternative to digital processing. As quoted on the first reply on this thread, you do not need a smart phone. You can check in online on a computer and...

Re: Cancellations - not processed and not refunded

If you legally owe them, it's not going to help reversing the SEPA payments because they will charge you again and maybe add a processing fee for their troubles. They don't really care if your daughter was there. Just that you had a valid contract. Google tells me that new contracts as of March 1, 2...

Re: Why are you unhappy today?

This article is kind of sobering :( and I'm wondering what our local Icelandic guy here on TT thinks about it. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/nov/15/icelandic-is-in-danger-of-dying-out-because-of-ai-and-english-language-media-says-former-pm The world is about to end too, isn't it? 8-) Since...

Re: Ryanair goes totally digital. No paper bording passes.

It is still possible to get good support when you get the right person on the right website. I told him we are now best friends. He agreed. :D Yeah, and then you can get the wrong person too. A few weeks ago, Telekom offered me to upgrade my internet to glasfaser, faster internet, same price. When ...

Re: Ryanair goes totally digital. No paper bording passes.

This seems to be the development. You need to be online to do things or you run into problems and/or have to pay extra. The first I've heard of an airport check in fee was a year ago and it was eurowings. I usually check in online. I used to print my boarding passes. I don't anymore. You can have yo...

Re: school exchange and Anmeldung

A friends daughter went on school exchange to Canada last year. If she would have stayed the full winter, she would not have gotten credit and would have lost a year. She had another option which was to come back in Feb. which would allow her to complete the school year here without a loss so that i...

Re: From Renters Paradies to Renters Nightmare: Why you won’t find an apartment in Berlin anymore!

There is no housing shortage where I live but that's because nobody wants to live here :)

Nearby larger towns already have a problem. Desirable cities like Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart etc. forget it.

Re: Problems in Supermarkets in Germany

Side note - why is everyone in such a manic hurry?? That drives me crazy. I see retired people like me rushing around like crazy and trying to carve 20 seconds off of everything. I let rushing people go in front of me almost every time I shop. Not just the ones with a couple of items. The ones that...

Re: Problems in Supermarkets in Germany

I've never noticed the cashiers expecting cash as most pay with card and it is always faster than cash. I'm one of the few cash people left but I pack my things before I pay. Always have. Nobody seems to mind. Except when my change purse doesn't close properly and all of my coins go rolling around....

Re: Problems in Supermarkets in Germany

My point is that any cashier will be doing their best to serve you correctly, and to not get in trouble, so it would be very much appreciated if you don´t make their work even more difficult!!! I actually like to go through as fast as possible because if everybody does, it also cuts down on the tim...

Re: avoiding the middle of the day

It was 36°C here yesterday. Went up to 28 inside. I open up early morning to cool the house down and when it starts to warm up, the shutters come down. Today it's a nice 23°C so the windows are open.

Re: I hate the DB App and website

I I take out the bicycle, it tells me transporting a bicycle on the ICE is actually possible. But if I ask to take it, it says it is NOT possible. I travel to Italy, normally 13hr with IC. Without IC I would have t spend a night in between, so depart morning, arrive afternoon next day. I travel thi...

It's because bicycle transport is not possible for this route

I think the problem here is the ICE+bicycle. If you change to local trains only, you get prices but it would take twice as long. Also if you take out the bike, you get prices for ICE as well.

Re: Getting a Deutschlandticket just for one month

Ouch, I was missing the fact that the DT must be canceled by the 10th of the previous month. My wife bought the June DT ticket on 14.6 for a family trip, and now we're stuck with July too. This very German way that everything is subscription based, and on purposely difficult to cancel, is extremely...

Re: Getting a Deutschlandticket just for one month

I also have problems with the app. I would appreciate knowing the cost of a ticket from Passau HBF to München HBF on June 22nd. I get 29€, which means a RT ticket just hits the 58€ DE ticket price. Before pulling the trigger for the DE ticket I would like to be sure the 29€ is correct. Since the DE...
