Re: Obituaries
I am 6 or 7 years behind you in age I believe, and bought those albums across the pond 4 or 5 years after you. I was hooked on the MB. Incredibly beautiful music that somehow gave me hope I was gonna make it through those awkward teenage years.

Re: Posting an item of value to USA
Right, my oldest is currently living in the US as she is studying for her masters before returning back to Germany. I need to post something to her.... an old family item that does have a solid value, but also sentimental. I've looked at various methods of posting this item, but with the wave of &q...

Re: Why are you happy today?
Oh happy day!
Just got my Telc-B1 certificate in the mail, which I need for my citizenship application, and I made a "Sehr Gut" (97.5%). I'm just SO SO glad to have that behind me. I'm simply too old to take any more tests.

Re: Niederlassungserlaubnis, „Leben in Deutschland“ test online?
My German/American hubby dealt with the tax stuff. If @pandamunich doesn't come along to answer your question on that I'll ask him about it for you. I have an SSA.Gov acct I can log into to verify all of my social security information, and I'm not even collecting it yet. I just scanned that info and...

Took me a minute. "Ages" came to me quickly," but the dreaded "c-word" took me a bit. The "neighbor" vs "neighbor" helped me shift too. Separated by a common language and all that stuff comes to mind. (Neighbours needs an apostrophe!) Look, I start...

Re: Why are you happy today?
I'm overcoming jet lag fairly easily. Got up and went with my walking group today at 8:30 (12:30 am in Colorado) and really enjoyed the brisk air and the fall colors. One thing I notice is that many people here complain about weather nonstop. ;) I mentioned what a lovely fall day it is and one gal r...

Re: Why are you happy today?
Just arrived back to ZRH and heading home to Konstanz after 18 days visiting friends and family in Chicago, Kansas, and Denver. We spent a good chunk of time with my mom, who’s 88. She was thrilled. Hadn’t been back for two years. Lots has changed since then, but thankfully our trip went well. So I’...

Re: CT Scan - written report.
I had ongoing headaches and dizziness in May/June (long since gone thankfully) and needed a hastily arranged CT scan to rule out bad stuff. This took place where I live, in Konstanz. The scan took 5 minutes with the radiology tech and 10 minutes later she handed me an envelope with results to bring ...

Not happy today because I made it to Interlaken, one of the bestest place for mountain activities, and yet I'll probably spend most of the day stuck in the hostel because of rain. Happy because the hostel is fantastic and full of nice people. And tomorrow it is forecasted dry and warm. I plan huge ...

So that's why I'm asking. According to that, I won't lose my residence. But I've heard differ...

Re: Will I lose my permanent residence if I do an abmeldung when married?
My understanding is that retaining a permanent "residency" permit is contingent upon "residing" here, which you clearly aren't planning on doing. Citizenship confers the benefit of allowing one to reside wherever one chooses to and coming and going as one pleases. But I am not a ...

Happy cuz I spent a day with a dear friend visiting from the US. The weather was fabulous and we took a boat ride on Thunsee, visited the castle grounds in Spiez, and took a tram up to the lookout station above Interlachen. On the train back to Konstanz now. I got to watch the sun set as the train r...
