Re: The Weather
We are finally having rain on and off here way down yonder, but what we really need is at least a few days of downpour. The water levels in the Rhein and the Bodensee are abysmal and the shoreline everywhere has receded like crazy. This has made life especially complicated for the waterfowl. It's am...

I find the knockoff brands don’t do the job and use only the Meister Proper, the original, and they cost more of course. But I use them sparingly anyway.

....and yes, the list was a generalisation, and there are some reasonable small dog owners. Thx for noting that. :D My 15-16 year old 6,5 Kg Pom-Mix (got him 14 years ago at a dog shelter in Topeka, KS) is actually quite decently behaved. But then I've always given him amazing amounts of exercise a...

An article from today‘s Guardian about penises on a medieval tapestry. Much more fun to read than most of the news of the day. Laugh thread? Smile thread? Cheered me up not knowing which one to choose. :D https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/apr/25/bayeux-tapestry-historian-genitalia-dispute...

If it’s unusual where your property is located then I’ld be skeptical too. My son pays up one year in advance where he lives, in Yerevan, and this has caused the landlord to never raise the rent (even when the war in 🇺🇦 started and fleeing Russians were driving rents up and causing locals to be disp...

Re: Why are you happy today?
I drove today for the first time in 5 years, from neighborhood streets to highways, to the Autobahn! This went on for 2 solid hours. It all started coming back. I didn’t crash the car, and my hubby didn’t have a heart attack. The anticipation of the event was far more stressful than the event itself...

Re: Why are you unhappy today?
I only had 3 small sachets of powder that I had to mix with water before drinking. Still very unpleasant. But it is worth it in the long run. I was able to view the whole proceedure via a monitor. These poylps look sinister, menacing and malelovent and have no place in my colon. I cheered loudly wh...

Europe & asian markets hammered... US seems untouched. Crypto started the day very badly but rallied. Wrong! US got hammerd bigly. Stimmt! :( I guess we're watching different news. You had me puzzled, since my advisor told me that our numbers look better today. https://www.theguardian.com/busin...

As long as you do not sell, you have lost nothing with this correction, as it will come back in time, just wait it out, You just have to live long enough to see the recovery. 4 years is a long time when you are over 70. Yep. These are not easy times for planning. I've got a very healthy mother abou...

As long as you do not sell, you have lost nothing with this correction, as it will come back in time, just wait it out, and if you have some spare cash around, it maybe a good time to buy, maybe in a few weeks. Lets see what happens next. Having said that, this thread is about the stock market, so ...

Re: Stock market investments
When it comes to the stock market, people don't ever seem to think they've won too much. But any loss always seems to be unbearable. I can generally successfully detach by reminding myself that we’re still really just fine, I’ve got awesome friends, and my lovely nearby walks and that daily view of ...
