Re: alter/renew Meldebescheinigung after relocation?
So every time one moves, one must make a new Meldebescheinigung. I've registered twice before, but never moved within Germany. it is doable online too, with eAT / and ID cards That is great news since I should get my eID a few days before the move. During the first week of June in 2025, I decided t...

Working in 2 EU countries simlutaneously doable?
Is it possible to work in 2 EU countries simultaneously ? AI is saying there is some system which flags people who contribute social insurances to more then 1 EU country as non compliant. Tax is also getting complicated but seems doable, but I see no solution for social insurances. I was thinking is...

Re: IT freelancing in Germany
Just curious, if potential freelancer is expecting yearly income above say 70k per year (rough figure, approximately low gross income for a full time employee) what are the drawbacks in registering a UG/GmbH? Besides the costs of accountant and tax adviser for annual statements I did that too in pa...

Re: IT freelancing in Germany
I'm not familiar at all with the ANÜ structure you mentioned, but it does sound like the worst of both worlds: you're not doing real freelancing, but you're also not getting the benefits of being a normal employee. Why would anyone go that route, just curious? so I guess you are lucky if you have n...

Re: IT freelancing in Germany
I'm not in IT, so I can't speak to every issue you've raised, but I am a longterm freelancer. As far as multiple clients are concerned, I always thought you just needed to have multiple clients, period, and the best way to prove this would be with invoices to different clients within a tax year. So...

Re: Real estate investment in germany
I would not invest in Germany right now. I know, I know you can die of old age waiting for the price to dip in Germany. But before the Iran war I thought we were due a correction. Now due a collapse. I did however buy 4 apartments in Nürnberg 18 years ago. I rent 2 out furnished, and 2 regular. I m...

IT freelancing in Germany
if anyone has done please share your thoughts this are my observations: I have freelanced a few times, but only after securing a contract first. Transitioning to freelancing before finding a client is quite risky—especially if you aren’t fluent in German, as most projects require it. There are also ...

The most likely scenario is that the 53.90€ was the "Net" price, and the 11.08€ tax is calculated specifically on the products plus a portion of the shipping, or the store is using a specialized VAT scheme for small businesses

Re: dual US and German SIMS
I'd say I've spent at least 2 hours trying to change my Google Play profile. The upshot is, there is a button labelled "Change Google Play country to Germany", but when I click it, nothing happens. A friend who moved to Ireland suggested creating a "private sphere" https://suppo...

Re: Real estate investment in germany
I am in a short-term furnished rental since I just arrived in Berlin at the end of January. My neighbor across the way told me that the previous tenant had lived here 37 years, but that the landlords claimed Eigenbedarf and kicked her out. The place stayed empty for a few months, and then they star...
