Re: UK ISAs and SIPPs - Tax implications in Germany

So, finanzamt in 8 years wasn’t able to find out that capital gains where not reported in tax income? And they were scaring us since 2017 how they share all information between countries and have some common system in place where all this info is being available. They have, the information just tak...

Re: UK ISAs and SIPPs - Tax implications in Germany

Yes. No, your profit is the difference between the value when you sell it and the value when you bought it , not the value on the day you moved to Germany. Withdrawals are irrelevant. But I assume that in order to be able to withdraw, you will have sold a fund first, to actually have cash to wirhdr...

Re: UK ISAs and SIPPs - Tax implications in Germany

1. How are the withdrawals taxed? It isn't withdrawals that you have to tax in Germany with a UK ISA, like they do for real retirement plans, but the income generated within the ISA all along. --> you have to tax the capital income (which includes the "fictive profit" = Vorabapauschale) w...

Re: UK ISAs and SIPPs - Tax implications in Germany

I have two UK stocks-and-shares ISAs. When I came to Germany 8 years ago it did not occur to me that these were not also tax-free in Germany (naïve I know). So now I'm trying to find out how to sort it out, get legal and pay whatever I need to pay. During the 8 years in Germany I have withdrawn mon...

Re: Getting a Deutschlandticket just for one month

Don’t want it for July. Just get the Deutschlandticket for June from Mo.pla, where you can then cancel the subscription by June 29th, i.e. will not have to also pay for July: https://en.mopla.solutions/en/tickets/deutschlandticket You can cancel your Deutschlandticket on a monthly basis. To do this...

You need to ask for a one-way ticket, it says so on the right: "Tickets für Verkehrsverbünde erhalten Sie bei Anfrage einer einfachen Fahrt" Tickets for public transport networks are available on request for a single journey And then you will get this: 2025-06-13 14_27_06-Angebote.jpg

Re: Correction in the Steuerbecheinigung from 2018

Can we each (joint tax return) simply enter the 675€ into Elster - line 17? and the Finanzamt will know what the total Kapitalerträge is and charge us the correct tax? (When we do this, the Prüfer button looks as though this works - we get taxed on total Premium Bond income - 650€ not yet used allo...

The latter, you will just get a new Bescheid.

Re: Interest income generated in Germany taxed by the US too?

Hello, We are US citizens residing in Germany. At the same time we had some interest generated on our Tagesgeld account here in Germany on which Santander bank already took approx. 26% for German taxes. Now when we are doing US taxes, I can see that US wants to tax that same generated interest agai...

Isn‘t the tax on some extraordinary income, like severance, divided into next 5 years in case Fünftelregelung is used? So you don‘t pay 100% of the income tax at once, but 20% each year? No. Please scroll down here for an example ofthe Fünftelregelung: https://www-sparkasse-de.translate.goog/pk/rat...

The Fünftelregelung gets applied to a year, it doesn't reach into the next year.

You write an Einspruch that has to reach your Finanzamt within 1 month and 3 days of the date written on the Bescheid (= assessment) and in it, you also mention that you forgot your work-related legal insurance and how much it was and ask them to consider ot additionally: Betrifft: Einspruch gegen E...

Re: National Insurance Class 3 contributions and German tax

It sounds crazy that just having them with no dividends being distributed/collected would trigger paying taxes on unrealized gain. What would happen with people that have 401Ks and now live in Germany? They are not contributing to the plan, just have it sitting there, would they have to pay taxes o...
