Definitely an option, Colin, if I can bring myself to go out to the shops!

Re: Save me (please) - seeking a place with air-con

Thanks so much for the ideas, PandaMunich, Fraufruit, alma.freya and kiplette! I'll see if either of the unis will let me in. Failing that, Munich here I come! :D

Save me (please) - seeking a place with air-con

Hello, I hope you're all well and enjoying the fine weather, but for me the forecast for the next few days looks unpleasant (what can I say, I'm from Yorkshire, we don't much get high 20s, not to mention 30s). Do any of you kind souls know of places - apart from cinemas - where I can cool down? Idea...

Re: Where to buy...

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy Private Eye in Berlin? I have a subscription in the UK but it takes so long for it to be sent on.

Re: UK general election 2024, who to vote for?

If, like me, you have a vote based on your last address in the UK, this is a useful website that analyses each constituency and projects the forthcoming election. https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/homepage.html The number of predicted seats on their current poll of polls is very heartening - CON ...

Re: UK general election 2024, who to vote for?

I have always voted LibDem although in my constituency that vote is kind of wasted because Richmond N Yorks is about the safest Tory seat ever. This time as you say, LibDem feels even more pointless. I might go Green. As I say, unfortunately I am effectively disenfranchised in my constituency. @kip...

Re: Taking in a flatmate

Brilliant! Thanks so much PandaMunich!
I'm a translator so I can make up a translation for their reference before signing (which of course they should check with a friend/Google. Preferably a friend. I've seen what AI can do and I wouldn't rely on it.).

Taking in a flatmate

Hello! Glad I found you again as I used to dip in to TTG and was sad to see it had gone. I'm hoping someone here can give me advice on a couple of aspects of taking in a flatmate. Key points: 1. I'm the owner, not a tenant, so a sub-letting agreement doesn't seem suitable. 2. I'm letting one room (w...

Re: Sofa buying

Hello! You could also try FB - people on pages like Sell & Buy Stuff Berlin sometimes sell all their furniture when they are moving back home, some items look remarkably little used. Worth a (cautious) try? I'd also vouch for the quality of IKEA sofas - my first was from them and I only got rid ...
